The Rapture -
WAYUH
new single 27 November
New York's The Rapture are one of the hottest indie outfits of the moment, seamlessly blending their indie attitude with some floorfilling basslines. The excellent album 'Pieces Of the People That We Love's second single 'WAYUH'
"People don't dance no more, they just stand there like that" reveals such insight and it's ripe for top dance producers to remix, this should be Top Five. XXXXx myspace.com/therapture (Posted 12 Nov)

Snow Patrol
& Martha Wainwright -
Set The Fire To 3rd Bar

new single 13 November

An equally brilliant follow-up to 'Chasing Cars' which has helped Snow Patrol become Britain's first guitar based band in 13 years to go Top 5 in the US. It's paternal album 'Eyes Open' has sold nearly two million copies and to crown thir achievement they play the American Music Awards next Mon 20 November. XXXX

Brakes -
Hold Me in The River

new single 4 December

Recorded in nashville with Stuart Sikes of Cat Power and White Stripes fame here comes another short sharp pop shock from Brakes. At just over two minutes, the catchy 'River' song with trademark wild vox deserves a Top twenty position at least. Plenty of JJ Cale and Elvis influence on this recording made at The House Of David studio, live and straight to tape. Great! XXXX

The Automatic -
Raoul
new single 8 January
Re-released by popliar demand, here it comes again ....

'Raoul' has already hit once like it's predecessor single 'Recover' a second bite at the chart is on the way in the new year when singles sales will be slow but not for The Automatic. The storming 150bpm power charge of 'Raoul' is complemented by a fab remix by Cardiff's talented beatmeister Culprit One ... a fine combination - well worthy! XXXx

Jarvis - new album 13 November
'Cunts are still running the world' was the banned on-line only single of a couple of months back, now hear the album. A second single 'Don't Let Him Waste Your Time' - another fine ballad - is due in January. More acidic trax like 'I Will Kill Again', 'Fat Children', 'Big Julie' and 'From A to I' feature cocker's trademark wry humour and makes for a fine listen. Running The World meanwhile has been included as the outro credits flow on alonso Cuaron's 'Children of Men'. XXXx

The Ordinary Boys -
I Luv You
new single 15 January
That nice Preston finds himself with his new bride well and truly in the pop mainstream. I can't help thinking 'I Luv You' should have been a Christmas single, the sleigh bells are almost in evidence and I can feel a shoulder dance coming on ... this is a risky move, maybe OB fans won't wear it, and Preston seems to be to aware to be a McFly or a Busted ... a maybe XXX

1965 Records -
7" Collection
new singles set
1965 Records big hitters The View, have some talented label mates. Featured here Baxter Dury's brilliant 'Cocaine Man' (bassy Ian Dury like), Out With Mummy's guitar riffed 'Who Stole Peter's Sole', an ethnic contribution from Small Arms Fiya + Serocee's 'Give It To Mi' and surprise surprise a track called 'Murderer'. The Law round things off with 'Watching Paint Dry' ... Good stuff XXXx

Rhythms Del Mundo -
Various
new album 13 November
One of the stand-out tracks from the Arctics record breaking album is now provided in a Latin American fashion on the Rhythms Del Mundo compilation. A set of new recordings sometimes using the original vocals in aid of Artists Project Earth (APE), which lends support for natural disaster relief and climate change awareness. Also included are Coldplay, U2, Kaiser Chiefs Franz Ferdinand and Jack Johnson to name but a few.

Arranged by Demetrio Muniz and Miguel Patterson, the main recording sessions took place in Havana at Abdala Studios from the April 2005 to June 2006. While the majority of the vocals remain the same, The Buena Vista Social Club musicians took the original orchestration from each song and created something utterly unique casting their trademark mastery over each track. Their noted and exceptional musicianship seduced even the notoriously protective Arctic Monkeys into handing over their track. As a rule, the band has never licensed their music for compilation albums, but were so enamoured with the result that they were happy for it to be included on the album. As well as The Arctic Monkeys' track ‘Dancing Shoes', Rhythms Del Mundo included reworked tracks such as Clocks by Coldplay, Better Together by Jack Johnson, She Will be Loved by Maroon 5, High and Dry by Radiohead and others. Good Books -
Leni
new single 4 December
Good Books new song was recorded at the famous RAK studios in London with Dan Grech-Marguerat on production. A tight light atmospheric bassy affair you can see supporting Magic Numbers starting in Brighton on 28 November, then Leeds, B'rum, and their own headline tour at sarts on 1 Dec at Manchester Night & Day, then Notts, Leicester, Sheffield, Liverpool and London Water Rats. Not bad. XXXx

Tiger Force -
Syntax Error!
new single 13 Nov
Helen Tiger and Andy Force have a new single 'Syntax Error!' sounding like a Japanese electro experience, each sleev individually presented with more than lip service to the original vision of indie. The single launch is at The Old Blue Last in Shoreditch on Tuesday night, 14th November, this outfit are different enough to raise a few eyebrows and gain a few important plays - unique. XXXx

Alterkicks -
On A Holiday
new single 13 Nov
Alterkicks just signed to Automatic's label B Unique and release their label debut 'On A Holiday' this week. A chirpy celebration of ... 'On A Holiday' ... their adopted home town of Liverpool has seen their massively successful Little Big Man club nights and two well received indie singles 'Do Everything I Taught You' and 'Oh Honey' caught the imagination, 'Holiday' could too! Up and away. XXXx

Switches -
Lay Down The Law

new remixes single tbc

Two excellent new mixes of Switches pounding chanter 'Lay Down the Law' come courtesy of The Luke Smith Penaturat Remix and The Nuam Gabo Mix. After some serious electro foreplay, er mucking around the song kicks in with the same gusto as in it's original form. Well worthy. XXXX
