Killers -
When You Were Young

new single 18 September

When a song is requested even before download availability it's a sure sign of demand. By the end of September the 130bpm 'When You Were Young' should become The Killers first chart-topper with the album 'Sam's Town' following two week's later. Controversially to some and like Incubus they use the word 'Jesus' as a hook, confirming their upward mobility.

The Fratellis -
Chelsea Dagger
new single 28 Aug
The Fratellis are a great rock n roll band, right in ya face and here comes a third excellent single. There's a little of the happy clapping of Louis XIV to 'Chelsea Dagger' - it'll be Top 40 no trouble. Their album 'Costello Music' will be released on 11 september and you can see these awesome showmen and fun lovin party people live
during August in Leicester, Northampton, Wolverhampton, Middlesbrough, Canterbury, London, Ibiza, Reading and Leeds. XXXX www.thefratellis.com (Posted 29 Jul)
Razorlight -
Razorlight
new album 24 July
Razorlight's 'In The Morning'
is the most obvious choice for single from this their second album however again there's a fine set of variety to be found here. Immediate favourites include the rather melancholic 'Kirby's House' as featured on the Warchild album, then there's the stinging songs about 'America' and 'Los Angeles', the ska-ed up 'Back To the Start' possibly the next single 'Pop Song 2006'. Johnny Borrell - top stuff! XXXX www.razorlight.co.uk (Posted 29 Jul)
The Zutons -
Oh Stacie
new album 18 September
'Oh Stacie' follows 'Why Don't You Give Me Your Love' and 'Valerie' - the third single from The Zutons second album 'Tired Of Hanging Around'. Perhaps not as strong as it's predecesors, Stacie should easily see Top 20 success. The Z's begin an 18 date tour at Southend Cliffs Pavillion on 11 November then Newport Centre on 12 Nov and Doncaster, Swindon, Glasgow, Plymouth, Brighton, Manchester, Lincoln, Wolves, Pompey, London and Liverpool

Winston Giles Orchestra
Soundtracks For Sunrise
new album out now
Adelaide electronic outfit The Winston Giles Orchestra are here in the UK for the first two weeks of August then in the USA for two weeks. You can see them at Callaghans this Thursday 3rd August and at The Toucan Club on Friday 11th August.
Their debut album showcases their chill-out, down-tempo and trance dance style. Opener 'We Wait for Sunrise' and 'Welcome To the Hotel' are of particular merit. XXXX www.winstongilesorchestra.com (Posted 29 Jul)
Paramore -
Emergency
new single 21 August
FueledByRamen have made a superb signing here, Paramore have come up with another great song and video in the 168bpm 'Emergency'. I find myself wondering if Hope Of The States 'Blind Meridian' was lurking in their subconcious at the time of composition. Nevertheless in true EMO fashion this'll grab you by the balls and sink it's teeth in ... very nice!

The Rapture -
Get Myself Into It

new single 21 August

New Yorkers The Rapture return the pounding 118bpm bass riff of new single 'Get Myself Into It', hear it by clicking the link to their myspace site below. Their second album 'Pieces Of The People We Love', the follow-up to 'Echoes', is out on 4 September and promises to be an essential addition.
New York Magazine voted them gig of the year, see them in the UK in October. XXXX www.myspace.com/therapture (Posted 29 Jul)
Bernard Fanning -
Wish You Well
new single 4 Sept
Australian Bernard Fanning releases his UK debut album 'Tea & Sympathy' on 11 September with 'Wish You Well' as a single a week earlier. You may know Fanning as lead singer / songwriter with Powderfinger, with seven multi platinum selling albums in their eleven years Australia's biggest band. 'Wish You well' is a catchy 2'30" reminiscent of The Velvet Underground's 'Sweet Jane' - hit potential. XXX

Eighteen Visions -
Victim
new single 4 September
Orange County, California five piece Eighteen Visions are curently on an extensive tour of the US and Canada and arrive in the UK at Manchester on 5 September.
They'll be playing Glasgow, Leeds, Newport TJ's, Portsmouth, London, Nottingham and Birmingham promoting their excellent first two UK singles 'Victim' and 'Tonightless'. This band have a harder edge - good stuff. XXXx www.eighteenvisions.com (Posted 30 Jul)
The Affair -
Andy
new single 21 August
London based Marquis Cha Cha
have signed up New Yorkers The Affair and release this edgy first single, the double A side 'Andy' c/w 'Anything But Disco (You Ruined My Life). Pop charm and punk in abundance and following in the footsteps of label mates Bromheads Jacket - with a little luck Top 40. See them on Saturday 12 August at The Lucky Cat in New York City. Hope Of the States -
Left
new album out now
A timely reminder that Hope Of The States are pressing some different buttons, a unique band and approach to the protest and observational - left is one of the albums of the year from one of the groundbreaking acts of the year. 'Blind Meridian' not included on this sample is my song of the year, title track 'Left' makes you wonder and in fact the whole album, conceptual as it maybe is a great listen

Jackson Analogue -
Allergic
introduction to the band
Well if you come by one of these 56 minute audio pleasures you will have the mystifying task of picking out the tracklisting and deciding whether some tracks if any are Jackson Analogue themselves. Impossible to cheat by flicking through the trax because there is only one track ... i.e. you have to hear the segues. We picked out Creedence 'Bad Moon Rising' with added percussive noise, AC/DC 'Whole Lotta Rosie'. An intriguing listen!
