Recover new single 18 September
The Automatic follow up 'Monster' with a re-recorded 'Recover' - the song which became their first single a year ago. To add a little variety to procedings, verse two is taken down to drum & vocals, Penneys trademark backing vocals much in evidence ... more than a little reminiscent of Russ Inner City Pirates (My Red Cell). Produced again by Richard Jackson whom I fondly remember ferrying back to Newport on the many times we worked together ten years ago .... ahhh. A great band and a great single - Top 10 for sure. The desperate 'The Rat' is a cult classic, much requested. Two years on The Walkmen's second album 'A Hundred Miles Off' will be released on 18 September, a week before it, it's first single 'Louisiana'. if you expected a 'Rat' soundalike be prepared for a shock, this is back to the / our roots in some fashion. Leeds favourite sons Cud are back with an Anthology lovingly collated with all the live favourites alongside some great rarities. All the singles including the Top 30 hits 'Purple Love Balloon' and 'Rich & Strange'. Cud split in '96 since then a life of Emmerdale (appearing in) painting, novel writing, DJ'ing, World Masters Cycling and ... well missing being in a band ... that last bit looks likely to change.
