The Strokes -
You Only Live Once

new single 10 July

The Strokes third single from First Impressions Of Earth pulls in at a medium paced 87bpm and is simply stunning ... a great riff, a great hook, a great lyric. See them in the UK again this Summer at Old Trafford with The Foo Fighters and at T In The Park. XXXXx

Horny As A Dandy

new single 10 July

French remix-masters Loo & Placido (Laurent Lupidi & Jeremy Johnson) had the idea of splicing these two tracks and of the five mixes here theirs is the one which works best. Sounding just like 'Bohemian Like You' and then morphing into 'Horny' - both these tunes were floor-fillers - now they're married. A fine novelty.

Charlatans -
NYC
new single 3 July
The Charlatans follow-up the brilliant 'Blackened Blue Eyes' with the three minute up-tempo 117bpm 'NYC (There's No need To Stop)' on 3rd July, available on two CD's and 7" vinyl it's the second single to be lifted from their top ten album 'Simpatico'. Surprisingly, now it is released as a single it sound slike a single and could do surprisingly well. XXXx

Fatboy Slim -
Greatest Hits
new album 19 June
Perhaps it's not until you see Fatboys Slim's hits lined-up like this you realise just how many he's had and over such a long period, and this doesn't include Dub Be Good To Me or the Housemartins hits.... Rockerfeller Skank, Praise You, Brimful Of Asha, I See You Baby, Slash Dot Dash, Gangster Trippin', Right Here Right Now .. it's an essential DJ companion, a superb collection, a Top Five album. Jim Noir -
Eanie Meany
new single 3 July
Jim Noir's refreshingly unique approach is paying off, 'Eanie Meeny' adopted for world cup soccer coverage should have no trouble landing a Top Ten position. Davyhulme, Manchester Jim's first attempt at writing a pop song
'If you don't give my football back I'm gonna get my Dad onto you', was first released in 2005. Noir's persevered and signed a deal with Atlantic, packed with English eccentricity, hopefully an unexpected boost for victory. XXXX

The Freelance Hellraiser -
You Can Cry All You Want
new single 3 July
I hope this tune doesn't pre-empt world cup defeat but if it does it will come in useful for video underlay & the MOTD finale. It's a pounding creation with a credible song lyric, five useful mixes here - with a little luck and dancefloor success this could be a Top 40 debut for the Freelance Hellraiser!

Dirty Pretty Things -
Deadwood
new single 10 July
Already much requested 'Deadwood' is the second single to be released from Carl Barrat's new outfit, see them at the Wireless Festival on 21 June, at Ipswich Towbn FC with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers on 30 JuneCoventry Ricoh Stadium on 2 July, Oxygen Ireland on 8th and T In The Park on the 9th July. Fast and furious, I'm not sure this will do as well as 'Bang Bang' ... but maybe.

Robots In Disguise -
Get Rid
new album 3 July
Nice ass and not afraid to flaunt it. Dee Plume and Sue Denim ... these gals have a fantastic stage show, full of energy and very visual. This set of trax includes my favourite 'DJ's Got A Gun' and opens with the single 'Turn It Up', electro minded but very Rock Lobster, an exciting listen.

Editors -
Blood
new single
Editors third release of this cracking tune, this time destined for Top Ten success. One of the hardest working bands in the UK over the past two years and all the hard work should pay off.

Belle & Sebastian -
White Collar Boy
new single 26 June
The third single from The Life Pursuit should see a continuation of good chart fortune for B&S. Get the DVD and you'll get the vid for 'White Collar Boy' and 'Sukie In The Graveyard' recorded for BBC Scotland. See them live at The Wireless Festival in Hyde Park on 21st June and at BBC 6Music's Summer Sundae in Leicester on August 13.

The Feeling -
Twelve Stops & Home

new single 26 June

Fill My Little World and Sewn have swept The Feeling into the public consciousness and this album has been created in the style of Travis and Beautiful South. The band met answering a music mag ad for a covers band in the French Alps and wisely decided to make a go of it. A pleasantly tuneful album is the result.
