The Mars Volta -
Viscera Eyes
new single 4 Sept
This heralds some briliant new material from The Mars Volta. they are a unique outfit perhaps with the exception of Coheed & Cambria, Viscera Eyes is again a bit strokey chinny, difficult if not impossible to dance to except in a Bohemian Rhapsody type way. An aquired taste but worth the time and rather immaculate. XXXXx

FUBAR -
3 Toke Pass
new demo
There's a Motorhead connection for this Bridgend based FUBAR have had this new demo produced by Phillip Campbell (of Motorhead and the brillliant Welsh rockers Persian Risk). '3 Toke Pass' at 250bpm is a stormer of a track, the more measured 'Innuendo' pulls in at 129bpm. A slick and simple production creates a strong presence on this impressive debut. XXXx

Phillip Roebuck -
Fever Pitch
new album October
It is hard to believe Phillip Roebuckis a one man band, but no ordinary one man band. 'Fever Pitch' is produced by Steve Albini and these songs are angry, 'Monkey Fist', 'Movement', 'Jackass Blues', 'In The Hole', 'Little Bo Peep', 'Pocket Knife', 'Love For The Damned', 'Travel Light'. A rare example of one man with his band on his back travelling the world and winning a large audience.

Natalie Ross & The Renegades -
Cellotape & Stitches

new single 25 September

London three piece fronted by Natalie Ross have a rock steady sound and deserve some luck with this single. Well put together with an irresistable bass and vocal. Downloads will shortly all but take over the market, and this single will be downloadable from iTunes, Napster, HMV, Virgin. Check out the myspace

Jarvis / Pulp reissues
Running The World

available on myspace download now

I've renewed a sneaking admiration for Jarvis Cocker since this new track puts him at loggerheads with pretty well the entire world. You're unlikely to hear this on air in many places since it's title could offend any powers that be anywhere. 'Cunts are still running the world' was inspired by the Live-8 spectacle, and released on his myspace site to mark the first anniversary of the grandiose samaritan like concert.
Since then it has received 115,075 plays. Ok so 115 thousand people know Jarvis ... well 'Cunts', lifted as a taster from his forthcoming solo album is a biting observation on the impass. A soft piano line leads into a soft vocal intro gradually turning to an angry delivery with a rousing cruscendo of an arrangement. While it is an unreasonable expectation that we'll invite the whole world to dinner, there are certainly some thing's wrong that can be changed. This is a great track. Three Pulp albums, 'His 'n Hers', 'Different Class' and 'This Is Hardcore' are about to be re-released in special sets on 11 September. They each become double cd albums with some special live and demo material included for the first time. For Pulp fans these commemorative relaeses are unmissable, and with Mr Cocker's new solo album set for November birth, Jarvis is going to be busy.
