Razorlight -
In The Morning
new single 3 July
"We won't remember a thing in the morning!". Whatever it is Razorlight and Johnny Burrell have it. Their last single 'Somewhere Else' was so close to winning the battle for No.1 last year, 'In The Morning' featuring new drummer Andy Burrows could well become the anthem of the Summer and go one better, it would help if it stopped raining. Orson -
Bright Idea
new album 29 May
'No Tomorrow' is a deserved number one, a catchy song in pop's truest traditions, 'Bright Idea' continues along tht line and now the whole album confirms that as The Orson Way. Orson make writing hit songs sound easy, and that's no mean feat! XXXX

Dirty Pretty Things -
Waterloo
new album 15 May
Much requested already, the 2 minute 'You F**kin' Love It', 'The Enemy' and 'Bang Bang You're Dead'. While Doherty and 'Shambles steal the publicity show, Barrat and Co. have made an impressive debut here with arguably a better record, technically it seems more focussed however it's a little uncertain what would make the best next single. GrooveCollision Lorraine v OMD
I Feel Messages
new album in July
Virgin remixers Groove Collison release their debut album in July and Lorraine vs OMD is one of the tracks previewed here. Lorraine's 'I Feel You' is a superb song, and probably the last thing you expect as the opening notes of OMD's Messages chime in, an interesting combination and a grower. XXXx

Jackson Analogue
Stop
new single 24 July
Jackson Analogue originate from the deep South, The Isle of Wight creating a unique sound with influences like Creedence, Muddy Waters, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Who and Family. Quite a mish-mash represented here on their excellent new single 'Stop' which by August should be in the Top 40 no worries. XXXX

Wolfmother -
Woman
new single date tbc
Wolfmother are the business, recent single 'Dimension' is a barnstorming stand-out track as is this new one 'Mother'. Two superb remixes by MSTRKRFT featuring a hand-clap intro and The Avalanches as you'd expect strangely sounding are both highly enjoyable and a worth anyone's time. Uniquely brilliant! XXXXx

All American Rejects
Dirty Little Secret
single 19 June
Third time lucky? All American Rejects first made waves with 'Dirty Little Secret' a year ago. With a million downoload sales, it's just one of the catchy songs on 'Move Along', an immediate hook, a great video what could go wrong? Nothing I feel, this is destined for the Top 40 this time around and it sounds like this band have the quality to stick around. XXXX

Editors -
Blood
re-released single 19 June
Editors are a brilliant band, and they've cracked with hard work, fine tuning their songs over a long period in front of small crowds gradually working to the position they're in now. 'The Back Room' is full of wonderfully well-honed songs with great lyrics, 'Blood' is a storming single worthy of much bigger success on thi, it's third release. Top Ten! XXXXx

Boy Kill Boy
Civilian
new album 29 May
Boy Kill Boy make it sound easy, 'Countdown to the dissappointment' what a great line. It's far from easy to write a hit song, to capture imagination in a line and convey it to others, but here's another great new band who seem to do it effortlessly .. 'Suzie' and 'Back Again' both feature on this great collection, another impressive debut. XXXX

The Young Knives -
She's Attracted To
single 19 Jun
Ugly maybe but in the ascendancy for sure. The Young Knives release the next single from their forthcoming album 'your dad cornered me in the hallway while you were in the loo, said I was a terrorist'. This is reality song-writing, another great variant addition to the Top 40! XXXx

John Fogerty
Long Road Home
album 22 May
John Fogerty, the composer of Quo's anthemic hit 'Rockin All Over The World', a live version of which is included here along with classics 'Bad Moon Rising', 'Up Around The Bend', the only worthy omission seems to be 'Long As I See The Light'. Fogerty hit contract problems in 1972 and entered a period where he wouldn't even play many of these songs. Thirty years later he's surprisingly re-signed to the same label, Fantasy Records. A fine collection. XXXX
