Orson -
Bright Idea
new single 15 May
Orson have another fine tune as follow-up to their number one hit 'No Tomorrow'. 'Bright Idea' was tested around us jock's a few month's ago and it sounded like a hit single on first hearing, it's got a catchy hook and an unusual lyric ... contrary to some I see no reason why this Hollywood outfit shouldn't be around a long time, I mean how difficult is it to write a hit song, you need skill and imagination and number one first time ... all the more impressive when you learn Orson recorded their debut album (also titled 'Bright Idea' to be released on May 29) in Hollywood for just $5,000, and only then got their deal with Mercury ... a DIY job ... great! The homeland next XXXX

Hope Of The States -
Sing It Out
new single 15 May
Hope Of The States deserve to be challenging for U2 super league status, they're on another level. 'Sing It Out' is the first single proper to be released from 'Left' their new album due on 12 June. Like 'Blind Meridian' this is a challenging thumping piece of music, a unique vocalist and a unique slant on the lyrics make this an exciting prospect. A sold out show in Cardiff Barfly last week and there's still time to catch them on their newly announced June tour dates ... Nottingham, Leeds, Edinburgh, Sheffield, Middlesbrough, Manchester, Norwich and London KOKO. XXXX

Sandi Thom -
I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker With Flowers In My Hair
new single 15 May
Talking of another level, Sandi Thom's DIY is out of this world, webcasts from her place with thousands logging on, and then a five album deal with RCA signed in front of the same webcam. It doesn't matter if it was a contrived stunt because Sandi quite obviously has a unique talent. 'I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker' is a superb lament on changing times, contrasting her experience with a longing for her parents experiences ... an accapella intro and modestly light instrumentation. What no musical intro? Yep for about 30 seconds - how many ILR's will be playing this? They should be A-listing it coz Sandi Thom rocks. XXXX

Bobby Gillespie and co. debuted in 1987 and here we are anxiously awaiting their new album 'Riot City Blues' due 5th June. 'Country Girl' the first single from it is released the same day and this is a stormer, collector's note 'Country Girl' will be released on 2 track CD, Maxi CD and 7" vinyl. The vid was filmed in LA by Jonas Akerland who's work you'll know on Madonnas 'Ray of Light', Blink 182's 'I Miss You' and Prodigy's 'Smack My Bitch Up'. More Rocks than Loaded and whetting your appetite for the live shows which will follow ... Panic At The Disco -
But It's Better If You Do
new single tbc
Panic At The Disco have just performd a sell-out tour in the UK, their first single 'I Write Sins' ineligable for the Top 40 but probablty would have been Top Ten, they are more a cabaret show than a collection of disparate songs, and the video's capture these story songs and fascinate. EMO and breathtaking at least because of the pace of delivery required for these lyrics, this will be Top Ten. XXXX

She Wants Revenge -
Album Sampler
new album 17 July
She Wants Revenge also known as Justin Warfield (singer with the Chemical Brothers, Prince Paul and Bomb The Bass) and Adam Bravin (one of Los Angeles top hip hop dj's working with Dr.Dre, Rakim and Alkaholiks). These Things and F**kin Tear You Apart are big news at LA's top indie alternative station KROQ, number three and a number one respectively! This is challenging material you can see for yourself on a rare UK performance at London's Cargo on 30th May before more UK dates to be announced shortly for July. XXXX

Forgive Durden -
Beware The Jubjub Bird
new single 8 May
Forgive Durden formed in college in 2003 and have been supporting Panic At The Disco. This is another great emo launch, 'Beware The Jubjub Bird and Shun The Fruminous Bandersnatch' to give it it's full title ... as you do ... is a grand debut. Fusing all the cabaret of Panic with hometown Seattle rich heritage of grunge. Look out for their new album 'Wonderland', a story from start to finish with a complete cast of characters due later this year. It is quite irresitable and should attract Panic fans in large numbers.
