Drake
Over
new single 17 May 2010
"What am I doing, oh yeah, I'm doing me, til it's over, til it's over and it's far from over..." Top stuff from Lil Wayne's Young Money Record Label... Canadian rapper Drake is on the pulse here and a massive international hit beckons... a superb remix from dJ eSenTRiK and DJ Sega... Top Ten!

The Foxes
Depression, Joy & A Moment Of Fame
new EP 17 May

I'm not sure these guys have a strong enough presence with and within these songs.... their album was on prominent display last year Tesco, Asda so I bought a copy but I've had not one request for the band... I'm not sure what's with it, perhaps it's just that the material doesn't cut through and make a big impression. Sorry ... UPDATE... whoops sorry again.. this time to The Foxes themselves... band member Nigel dropped us a line to clarify a few things...
"I just wanted to drop you a note to say thank you very much for the mention on your website, but also to check you'd not confused us with another band. You said that our album had been on prominent display in Tesco's which confused me as we've not got an album out (we've only released three singles and the EP which is out today - all on our own label), nor have we ever been for sale in Tesco's!"

Hey Nigel, a case of mistaken identity for which I humbly apologise, I've been thinking of Sub Pop's Seattle based Fleet Foxes and their strange accoustic and chanty collection out in 2008... The Foxes offer in someways a similar accoustic mellow approach and we're happy to print their Press Release here...
The Foxes - “Depression, Joy and a Moment of Fame”
Release Date: 17th May 2010
Room 10 Records
The band might have been sleeping on friends’ floors and in their battered old van for the past two years but this EP belies their homelessness.
Having given up everything to get fully behind the band, they started their own record label and have been touring the UK, US and Europe ever since.
Producer John Cornfield (Muse, Razorlight, Supergrass, Oasis) invited them to record their first full-length album with him at the isolated Sawmills Studios in Cornwall, where the last part of the journey has to be completed by boat. These four songs represent a taster of what is to come later in the year.
Although gaining support from Radio One (Zane), Radio Two (Long, Lester) and Absolute, the edgy sound of their previous 3 UK singles (Trauma Town (UK Indie Chart #9), Bill Hicks (UK Indie Chart #6) and Lover, Killer) has developed into a warmer, richer sound with the addition of acoustic guitars, piano, and harmonies from all three singers. A UK tour from the end of April through to early July will see The Foxes hitting the road with what The Red Stripe Music Awards described as “An Awesome Set” – see
www.thefoxesband.com for the up-to-date tour schedule.

LCD Soundsystem
Drunk Girls Holy Ghost! Remix
new single 17 may 2010
Hey this is beefy... more medium paced less frenetic than it's radio edit original - superb keyboard line and chugging backbeat with the vocals and pointed lyrics readily accessible and coming much more to the for... they should do a radio edit of this mix... it's got hit written all over it! Brilliant!!

Lights
Ice
new single 15 March 2010
Good tune... catchy lyric.... superb video ... proof that the simplest things can work to great effect. Well worthy

Sia
Clap Your Hands
new single 31 May 2010
Streuth Bruce... great single.. irresistable jiggling medium paced dancer with a Diplo Mix and an uptempo'd Fred Falke... bizarre and fascinating video... simple song, pointed lyric, catchy chorus.. somewhat similar to the phrasing on Chic's awesome 1978 slammer 'Everybody Dance'. Ten years to the month since Sia made the UK top ten with 'Taken For Granted' it's an anniversary she celebrates with a great new record and deserves big hit!!

This week's Top 40 ...

Top 40 Sun 2 May10
Roll Deep score their first Number One while Plan B returns to the top of the Album Chart.

BoB's superb 'Nothin On You' is America's No.1 for a second week and his 'Airplanes' with Paramore leader Hayley Williams is in at 9.

A record ten new tunes this week sees the Glee Cast add to their tally with a cover of Madonna's 'Like A Prayer' while this weeks strange oldie entry comes from Billy Joel with 'She's Always A Woman To Me....' we doubt he'll fayre any better than Tina Turner's 'The Best' which last week entered at 9 and this week disappears. Downloads huh?

Good to see Marina & The Diamonds successfully folow 'Hollywood' with 'I Am Not A Robot' new at 26 while three American top tenners from Train, Lady Antebellum and Adam Lambert also make this weeks top forty.

10 new entries - 7 up, 16 down, 7 non-movers

Things Can Only Get Better....?
'

We'd got on our bikes as Tory grandee Norman Tebbitt bode us... found ourselves working in Cumbria, Carlisle, Workington... It was thirteen years ago this week.. it was a historic moment of some uniqueness.
Years before then I'd thought the Tories had managed things so badly they could easily create an army of traffic wardens with the unemployed... little did I think Labour would ... each with power of entry into our homes...
Back then I thought Labour would have one chance to put the wrongs right.
In the event they've had three - three election wins, three chances.
The lovely battle hardened Northerners I worked with were visited by this years floods, the floods the Labour Government was so ill prepared for.
Outnumbered by Tories at Carlisle's commercial station CFM my partner and I drove hundreds of miles to Yorkshire and South Wales respectively to cast our votes and were preparing to drive the length of the country to welcome Mr Blair to Downing Street after eighteen years of Conservative rule.
Unbeknown to us we wouldn't have been allowed in... Downing Street had been reserved for Labour party activists only ... each issued with a Union Jack to show us how patriotic the Labour Party was and how they'd put us British 'workers' first.
How dare they?
How fooled were we?
How conned were we?
Within a month Blair had changed the immigration rules to allow dependents in... since then five million have been allowed into the United Kingdom... five million... a number the size of half the population of London... an additional 10% added to our population.
Bring on the 'Bonfire of Labour Laws'.
The grim reality is Labour had little intention of helping their own with their useless tax credits an' all - and every intention of setting about a secret social engineering project the like of which has not been seen before.
Even yesterday, Saturday, five days before she wants to be re-elected Labour MP Hazel Blears is forced to 'thank The Sun' and admit she is yet another Labour Minister who's been using an illegal immigrint.. she joins the incredible un-elected law-making Attorney General Baroness Scotland and who knows how many other hypo'critical Labour lackey's who have been unable to abide by their own half baked legislation.
Blears is the minister who wanted to pay unemployed troublemakers £20,000 a year to keep them out of mischief... What?
Where would that money come from??
These are lunatic policies or acts designed to deliberately bankrupt the country... to destroy the UK.
Who are they working for?
Immigration has not been discussed openly in a right and proper fashion.
Take the matter to the dinner table - Were every 1997 family of ten asked if they'd mind having a foreign guest to dinner - every day - forever - and ever - and gradually increasing to two guests... then three guests... then four guests until such time as the guests outnumber the family - Huh?
While some mad heads would have approved this importing of strife the vast majority would have declined thank you.
So deluded and depraved have Labour's barmy leaders become in their dishing out of dictats and 'bigotted' laws that it is only this week the Tories have felt able to publicly talk at some volume about National Statistics Office figures...
In John Major's last year of power just 47,000 migrants were allowed into the UK compared to Labour's average 385,000 per year... five million in their thirteen years of power ... with an average 385,000 per year - ten times greater than the Tories who seemed so incompetant at the time.... an outrageous 800,000 in 2008... nearly three cities the size of Cardiff... What on Earth have Labour been thinking of?
We know they didn't think we voters would approve or they would have asked - as with the promised referendum on the Lisbon Treaty.
That's why they kept their secret policy to themselves.
Do these acts resemble
"treachery, disloyalty - violation by subject of allegiance to sovereign or state..." i.e. Treason?
As if to confirm such suspicions Blair's government tampered with the Treason laws ending the death penalty for the crime in 1999.
Had they intended to commit treason all along?
In the event of a Tory government on Friday the Treason law should be reverted to it's pre Labour 1997 form.
There is a strong case that the cabinet and those responsible for this deceipt and the many other lies should be duly arrested and put in the Tower never mind re-elected.
And what a bunch of sick people Brown, Mandelson and their 'polit-bureau' are - as the power of the approval of the UK population slips away from these destroyers they look visibly winded and worried.. and it is right that they should - it's the beginning of the justice they deserve.
We are repeatedly told these evil wrong-doings are irreversible... oh yeah?
Along with the bigotted and the gold-fish selling 65 year old Granny's that epitomise Labour's new 'idealogical' enemies of the state many more decent people smell an enormous elephant sized rat.
'Insha' Allah' God Willing a new Tory Government will be able to fully investigate the depth of the Labour leadership's treachery, betrayal and idealogical delusion which many fear will inevitably sooner or later impact adversely upon each one of us - migrants an' all.
