This week's post ...

Bearcraft - Voluntary Butler Scheme Remix
Werewolf new single

Well 3'18" - cool atmospheric hooky non song alternative to the original... very nice.

The Cheek
Just One Night
new single
"In just one night you got a hold on me..." The Cheek arrive with a standard indie sounding tune. 'Just One Night' pounds along determinedly, some tidy lead guitar lines, edgy vocals, thumping drums... BBC 6music should love it. Chart Chance

The Dallas Guild
Weakness Goes In My Spaceship
new single 26 April 2010
With repeated radio airplay these chaps could get themselves a hit... the tune is friendly enough for Radio One, radio Two and their commercial rivals. Chart chance

Delays
Unsung
new single
Southampton's Delays should have been No.1 with 'Valentine' - a superb choral piece of high energy electro pop... but why it wasn't?... demographics?? Anyway they're back with another superb single 'Unsung'... drums in, chunky mid pace rock riff, trademark falsetto vocals, neat lyrics
"You'll be a ghost before too long...". Excellent band, I hope this carries them into the top twenty.

Gorillaz
Plastic Beach
new album
I must confess to being baffled as to why Gorillaz, Arctic Monkeys and so on find themselves struggling to gain a foothold in the singles and sometimes album chart when they still remain so popular. Someone suggested demographics which it may be or has the 'scene' moved on. I give in. This is a fine album, 'Stylo' utilising the now legendary talent of Bobby Womack is a smart track and the new single 'Superfast Jellyfish' is an excellent three minute wheeze. I particularly note the money eyeing multi-platform idea of the 'Plastic Beach' computer game where you play the first two rounds for free and then subscribe to complete the challenge. Good album, top outfit!

Groove Armada
X
new album
Again, why are Groove Armada's songs not in the top forty... I dunno.. scratchy heady. Just saw a fine performance with Will Young on Jonathan Ross' TV show. This is quality material and empassioned soul from start to finish. The mystery continues

James
The Night Before
new mini album 5 April
James twenty years on... frightening how the 90's slippped away ten years ago... this new collection of material should please the faithful however the new generation will be harder to impress. Nevertheless good to see James keepin on keepin on. Good record.
See them on tour throughout April

Lightspeed Champion
Madame Van Damme
new single
All together....
"kill me baby won't you kill me, kill me baby won't you kill me...." a strange three minute opus... why do I get the impression Mr Speed is experimenting... I'm not sure he's talking to his job... "I hate my work... oh darling". It's a chunky, poppy riff with what seems an incomplete mysterious lyric, I think this will have left most way behind but he's certainly adventurous in his approach. Potential.

Paul Weller
No Tears To Cry / Wake Up The Nation / Mistress Brown
new single 12 April
Wake Up The Nation new album 19 April 2010
Paul Weller returns with a timely title... 'Wake Up The Nation' and songs like 'Mistress Brown'.... wot is he loike? Well it's heart-warming to see Mr Weller reunited with his Jam Bass man Bruce Foxton on a couple of tracks, wouldn't it be great if next time Rick Buckler was involved.
"Lean, mean and as uncompromisingly focused as it's maker, 'Wake Up The Nation' brings Paul Weller full circle: twenty-eight years on from The Jam's split, two tracks feature the former bassist Bruce Foxton. The album also sees contributions from My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields, The Move's Bev Bevan and legendary session drummer Clem Cattini. Passion, progression, and, as ever, spine-tingling rock'n'roll,"
Tracklisting
1. Moonshine
2. Wake Up The Nation
3. No Tears To Cry
4. Fast Car/ Slow Traffic
5. Andromeda
6. In Amsterdam
7. She Speaks
8. Find The Torch / Burn The Plans
9. Aim High
10. Trees
11. Grasp & Still Connect
12. Whatever Next
13. 7 & 3 Is The Striker's Name
14. Up The Dosage
15. Pieces Of A Dream
16. Two Fat Ladies

Pendulum - Deadmau5 & Emalkay Remixes
Watercolour
new single 3 May 2010
Sell out tour I know but have Pendulum gone off the boil? Is there a certain something missing from this track.. I'm not sure.. the single edit receives a surprisingly mixed dancefloor reaction and I'm not sure that these remixes by Deadmau5 and Emalkay go anyway to enhancing the tracks chances. The song somehow doesn't seem as strong as the still irresistable 'Propane Nightmare' which wins any crowd when the bass and drums come thundering through. Hmm the jury's out.

Robots In Disguise
Wake Up!
new single 19 April 2010
These lurvvelly Robots In Disguise seem to have switched their attack from electro indie to spunky B52 like indie... "That's an order, that's an order, wake up!"...
the trend is the other way so that makes them future trendy.. ahead of the so I dunno... they deserve chart recognition at some point - they're 'DJ's Got A Gun' was a superb one that got away a couple of years back... hit hopefully

Violent Soho
Son Of Sam / Bombs Over Broadway
new single
Violent Soho from sunny Mansfield, Brisbane, Australia... yes it's grim down under... Grungy tune this, spoooky Nirvana like light and shade, hectic one moment, spooky down beat the next...
"Beautiful girl you got a hole in your heart, sitting pretty til the Yeh world tore apart, yeh world Son of Sam, no-one cares or even understands at all". This is a good record accompanied by the prophecy of 'Bombs Over Broadway'... no one cares or even understands... another fine gloomy outlook.. file with the cream - good trax.

This week's Top 40 ...

Top 40 Sun 4 Apr 10
Three years since their Summer 2007 show at Mad4it Scouting For Girls go straight to the UK's number one slot with their excellent new single 'This Ain't A Love Song' while
Rihanna's 'Rude Boy' stays top Stateside and Boyzone's 'Brother' stays atop the UK Album Chart.

Four new tunes this week, three in the top five and along with Scouting For Girls at 1, Plan B's shuffling calypso like tale of injustice 'She Said' is in at 3 and the Facebook campaign to get English Christian rockers Delirious? a farewell tour chart hit succeeds in style with a number 4 entry for 'History Makers'. Dappy won't be happy.. N-Dubz struggle in at 40.

Interesting to note Radio One's chart show has fallen so far behind it's commercial rival - nearly a million listeners behind - Beeb bosses have acted.... with a prime time promo campaign on BBC TV and Reggie Yates taking the show on the road. If they really want increased listening they'd do better to make the excellent Scott Mills their every week Chart Show host.

4 new entries & 1 re-entry - 8 up, 24 down, 3 non-movers

You for dessert?
Posted Friday 9th April 2010 - BBC
Not a day goes by without the deluded wretched souls who lead the Labour Government spewing forth utter rubbish.. you would of course have to have a modicom of interest in the poltical manouverings / rivalry's between differing groups of people to spot some of this tasteless bolony but Labour have descended into some kind of frightening Alice In Wonderland inverted everything.
The latest from this group of frauds is utterly astonishing.
Just two months ago via Royal Bank Of Scotland our UK Government lent the American company Kraft the money to take over the iconic British chocolate company Cadburys.
Guess what? This same bunch of criminal lookalikes are now proposing a law to stop such a thing happening.
See the BBC.co.uk story here
Pinch yourself... they have been the Government for thirteen years...
It could not be possible that all politicians / people are as morally redundant as these schadenfreude's who seem to be enjoying our misfortune in having them rule us.
In fact some people / politicians are prepared to stand up out of turn and call this rubbish what it is - and some at great danger to themselves.
Not this bunch of evils... they are banking on the votes of those who've forgotten their earlier promises and the votes of the five million alien arrivals they've helped into Britain since 1997. There are many well meaning people within the Labour party, of that we can be certain, but that party has been hijacked by a rotten core who label themselves 'progressives'... really 'revolutionaries'.
The last word they'll want you to hear is revolution but that is what is happening here - when 65 year old grannies get fined a thousand pounds and tagged for two months for selling a goldfish - read it as a sign of intent that there is nothing and no-one that can be left as was.
So in 2006 this government's priority was to make selling goldfish to kids a crime.

It is time democratic socialists like Roy Hattersley come clean and try stop these delusionals before they cause real trouble. Hattersley, former Labour Deputy Leader on live tv smugly told us he was "in the Labour Party when it was the Labour Party". This prompts a question that demands an answer.
What is the Labour Party now then?
It certainly doesn't resemble the democratic socialist Labour Party most of it's supporters have probably voted for - witness poor Peter Law, the terminally ill MP for Blaenau Gwent bundled into Labour Party history by it's London leadership in the most inhumane fashion.
And here's a discovery for you - if you were one of the 153,235 people who voted for the No2EU party at last years European Election you may be surprised to learn you in fact voted for the Communist Party - a party who's historical intent has been to build the internationale so surely they'd be pro-European wouldn't they?
Is that why they used a different name? A pretense? A pre-meditated manipulation of those EU non-believers?
If so, not very democratic is it?
In truth it is an obscenely dishonest abuse of democracy.
They surely have a vision of where they'd like to lead us, they surely don't want to alarm us by being telling us.
Or has William Hague nailed it: "we're a nation of lions being led by donkeys".

People may have their votes hijacked but not their hearts.

Bye Bye Anna Log
Posted Wednesday 7th April 2010 - 1.21.38am
Wales became Anna Log free last week and now Cardiff household's have said farewell to the old television way after sixty years with the South-West's Mendip transmitter turn-off. Digital also means the demise of the Beeb's speedy and handy to view CeeFax service after nearly forty years. RIP trustee old CeeFax (as in See Facts quickly) it's final image frozen for a few minutes and reproduced below with the time showing 1.21.38am...... spooky. I know of several elderly's who are yet to make progress with 'doing digital' and the hole in their lives has come just in time for the election... funny that.

General Erection
Posted Tuesday 6th April 2010
So it'll be Thursday 6th May 2010...
"Let's go to it" said Comrade Brown surrounded by his motley cabinet of uneasy looking coerced.
Perhaps he meant 'Let's get that microphone working properly' as the sound seemed strangely untrained on our Leader as he made the biggest announcement of his career.
Twenty minutes earlier Tory Leader David Cameron addressed his supporters outside the old County Hall on the banks of the Thames and was perfectly audible... he then set off on the campaign trail to the tune of Bryan Ferry's 'Let's Stick Together'.
Was the inferior sound some BBC shenanigans or was it the usual badly thought out Labour incompetence?
'Things Can Only Get Better' eh... they must be D-Reaming again.

Radio 2xs - 2 million
Posted Tuesday 6th April 2010- Source Radio 2xs
Radio 2xs is very excited to reveal it's highest-ever number of page-loads and unique visitors. During March 2010, independent figures from our We Host company showed that radio2XS.com delivered an incredible 2.35 MILLION pages and received over 33,000 new unique users. Seen any individual stations' webhit boasts from Global or Bauer recently? Many thanks from us all, and don't forget we know it's tacky, but if we are to continue to resist the dreadful Bad Ads that plague those old-fashioned terrestrial stations, we need you to help us with the punitive costs of UK Copyright payments. Please go here and give us a hand!
