This week's post ...

Detroit Social Club
Prophecy new single

"See this man, take his hand, he will lead you to the promised land, if you go, you will see, there's a preacher inside of me, it's driving the world... just like the prophecy... " Another strange track from Detroit Social Club... solid beat, choiry vocals in, before a standard rock song emerges. Not sure this has the X-Factor but this band do have enormous potential. Hit possibility

The Drums
Forever & Ever Amen new single

Hotly tipped US band The Drums second single comes blitzing from the speakers
"And it's forever, baby it's forever, and you'll be mine til end of time, until our lives run out into the sky...". Like Soft Cell on an Libertine bent... not sure about this, if there were a word to describe it ... "weak". Sorry.

White Rabbits
They Done Wrong We Done Wrong new single

An intriguing three minute listen. First to grab you is the chugging rhythm track... a winner. Haunty vocals, mysterious lyric, on licence to Mute Records of Depeche Mode & Erasure fame.. a maybe

"I'm different" Clegg said of his Lib Dems... we know that in Cardiff... they won't listen to anyone... least of all the 93% who voted against a school reorganisation plan involving the demolition of a leisure centre... they just plough on doing untold damage which will rebound at some point... and he's the clear winner... mainly because he's neither Gordon Brown or David Cameron.
And that ladies and gentlemen is how the democratic debate will be hijacked and public opinion sidelined.
From Comrade's Brown's overtures to the 43 year old Lib Dem Leader it seems Labour's strategy is to go for a hung parliament and hang on to power with Clegg's Libs help by offering electoral reform. It's muted we should allow infants to have the vote... give them sweets... that kind of deal... anything to retain power.
Commentators were expecting a National Grid power surge moment akin to Englands 1966 World Cup victory when 23 million viewers simultaneously went for tea at the end, or the 1977 Morecambe & Wise Christmas Show when 27 million did similar... in the event a meagre 9.4 million tuned in to our leaders first debate... a little more than the BBC's controversial BNP Newsnight last October...
Nineteen days till D-Day... Democracy Day that is.

How different is Nick Clegg? Here's some excerpts from Wiki on the Lib Dem boss...
Nick Clegg was born in Chalfont St Giles, Buckinghamshire in 1967, the third of four children. His half-Russian half-English father, Nicholas, was a banker, and is a trustee (and former chairman) of The Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation. His great-great-grandfather, the Russian nobleman Ignaty Zakrevsky, was Attorney General of Senate in Imperial Russia. His great-great aunt was the writer Baroness Moura Budberg. His Dutch mother Hermance van den Wall Bake was a teacher of children with special educational needs who had been interned as a girl with her family by the Japanese in Batavia (Jakarta) in the Dutch East Indies. He was brought up bilingually in Dutch and English and also speaks French, German and Spanish.
Clegg was educated at Caldicott in South Buckinghamshire, then Westminster School in London. As a 16-year-old exchange student in Munich, Germany, he performed community service for a minor case of arson: he and a friend burned Germany's leading collection of cacti belonging to a professor, something which he said he was "not proud" of, when it re-emerged during his time as Lib Dem Home Affairs spokesman. He attended Robinson College, Cambridge, after spending a gap year as a ski instructor in Austria and as an office junior in a Helsinki bank. At Cambridge, Clegg studied Archaeology and Anthropology. He was active in the student theatre, captain of the college tennis team, and campaigned for Survival International, protecting the rights of threatened indigenous peoples.
In 2008 it was reported that while at university, Clegg had joined the Cambridge University Conservative Association between 1986 and 1987, with contemporary membership records citing an "N Clegg" of Robinson College. (At the time, Clegg was the only person of that name at Robinson.) However, Clegg himself later maintained he had "no recollection of that whatsoever." After university he was awarded a scholarship to study at the University of Minnesota for a year, where he wrote a thesis on the political philosophy of the Deep Green movement. He then moved to New York, where he worked as an intern under Christopher Hitchens at The Nation, a left wing magazine. Clegg next moved to Brussels, where he worked for six months as a trainee in the G24 Co-ordination Unit which delivered aid to the countries of the former Soviet Union. After the internship he took a second Master's degree at the College of Europe in Bruges, where he met his wife, Míriam González Durantez.

Evans Brain Drain
Posted Saturday 17th April 2010 -
Radio 2 Breakfast Clone Chris Evans Election Analyst has been named as... Will Carling. Will, previously famous for the affections of Princess Diana and Rugby is a man who professes no knowledge of Party Politics... in our New Britain the less knowledge the better... Will will be in a similar plight to Chris Evans in that the Ginger One seems to have little idea on how to retain Wogan's listenership.

Sampson Syco Bill

2008 Simon's Got Money Winner George Sampson has been talking in the Daily Mail about the great Cowell man...
"George himself has been quite outspoken about how he felt abandoned by Simon Cowell, whose record label Syco dropped him after his first single flopped. George was then staggered to discover that he actually owed Cowell money. 'I suppose Simon has realised he can make more money out of other people,' he said. 'But I thought we were tight. I had one of the bestselling DVDs, we sold loads of copies. 'But then I found out that Simon's company takes 90 per cent of the revenue. I get ten per cent. But I have to pay the production costs out of that. So I ended up owing them money.'
