I like Ali Love .. he was lengths ahead of Calvin Harris and yet Mr Harris seems to have overtaken him ... for now. I think there's more substance and variety on display in Ali's tunes .. more depthy style too .,. Love Harder is a simmering chunky jig with a cheeky title which if there be any justice should see the man in the top forty.. top tune

I like this, an uptempo light whisking guitar based anthem ... 'Two By Two' .. "Animals we are... " Catchy tune a little reminiscent of early U2, perhaps a airier but with a fair amount of bright charm .. a hit possibility

Archie Bronson Outfit
Shark's Tooth new single 1 March 2010
Archie Bronson outfit played at our Mad4it night at Cardiff Barfly a couple of years back and I was struck by their unique approach which is continued here and then some. 'Shark's Tooth' features a stomping bass with a very edgy sound to the guitar and vocals and I think it works really well. I like this band, they stand out from the crowd. Good tune

Arctic Monkeys
My Propeller new single
Moody, dark and mean if film noir were made now this would be perfect .. The Arctics on fine form with the new single 'My Propeller' but in this r n b dominated world it seems they've been left behind somewhat .. hard to believe it's near five years since 'Dancefloor' .. it's a shame their prolonged absence doesn't seem to have made hearts grow fonder. 'Propeller' is a good track but I fear they'll struggle with it

Yeah I like this full of energy much akin to Brakes and British Sea Power, it's an ambitious project dealt with cleverly and with superb production. "Thomas White's new album 'The Marximalist' which he has written, played and produced is released on Cooking Vinyl on March 15th. Lead track 'The Last Blast' – “a dissection of the life and work of notorious World War II novelist Sven Hassel” - features Phil Sumner of Actress Hands and British Sea Power on cornet and comes with two additional tracks – both exclusive to this release – White’s take on Einstein's Day (originally performed by Mission Of Burma) and Brazil (by Joao Gilberto). His second solo release, the album features twelve tracks of post-modern pop and marks White’s most complex and ambitious release to date. A founder member of Electric Soft Parade and Brakes, White has lent his considerable talents in a variety of bands from Patrick Wolf to British Sea Power to Sparks whilst still finding time to record two solo albums. The Maximalist is yet another fascinating progression for this most idiosyncratic of artists". A good record's a good record and this is a good record however, I'm not sure "spitting on our capitalist masters" is what's required after thirteen years of Blair/Brown deceipt. Anyway, can't wait for the album.

Wolfmother gave us our favourite Mad4it tune of last year in 'New Moon Rising' and here's the new single 'White Feather' a bitstering attack on the sound system full of riffage and lead guitar wonderment, pleading vocals and a extraordinarily ambient feel .. sudden end. Top tune, hopefully top 40 this time

You Me At Six missed the original bus into top 40 ville with My Chemical Romance and Panic At The Disco but they continue to come up with crisp energetic pop tunes. 'Underdog' is the first single pulled from their UK top five album 'Hold Me Down' and with some tidy Radio One support should easily reach the 40.
