Liberation continues

Hard to imagine what it must have felt like for Berliners when the Wall came down twenty years ago but we're getting a small taste of that now.
The ever encroaching intrusion into our lives by the last Government does seem to have been immediately put into reverse by the new Coalition Government as they promised.
The ridiculous Home Information Packs (designed to aid increased Council Tax), yesterdays invite to all schools to become academies (a liberation from the authoritarianism surely designed to aid political brainwashing) and now news today of the ending of the Identity Card Scheme (surely dreamed up to aid criminalising the ordinary folk - one can make that judgement by the crazy ideas of justice dished out over the last thirteen years).
It feels like some very large clouds have disappeared...
Inevitably the Labour side will respond and you can't help feeling there'll be a catch somewhere?
One thing is plain to see, these sizemic reversals are being made in a very quietly democratic and tangibly 'British' way - one which should give the world hope.
Seasiders v Champs
Posted Monday 24th May 2010
It's worth Bluebirds fans remembering that while City conceded six goals in their two defeats against 102 point Championship Champs Newcastle Utd... there were four teams who beat them. They were Scunthorpe United 2-1, Derby County 3-0, Notts Forest 1-0 and... Blackpool 2-1.
Also worth noting that 'Pools mainman Ian Holloway also had his modestly assembled and waged players giving up Christmas to visit the less fortunate.
Legs crossed for next year. |
