this week's post ...
Def Leppard
Nine Lives new single 24 April
One of the greatest UK rock bands return like they've never been away. The first single from their new album Songs From The xxxx and available with the computer game Guitar Heroes 3 Legends Of Rock, a 118bpm classic rock stomping single great production and Tim McGraw - Top 20 no worry
Hadouken
Declaration Of War new single 21 April
Yeah these are the Dudes... five major mixes here, Mason Vocal, Mason Dub, Whip mix Hadouken vs Kissy Sell Out and Jeuce.. one of 08's hottest propositions with 90,000 myspace mates, an 11 song USB mixtape and a unique take on pretty well everything - Top Ten
Morrissey
All You Need Is Me new single 19 May
A fine single, trademark Morrissey great lyrics and a harder back track - Top 20 for sure
Johnny Flynn
Tickle Me Pink new single 19 May
Despite the title, Tickle Me Pink is a rather uptempo downbeat affair.. maybe it's an aquired taste however it does seem a rather strange choice for a possible breakthrough single, catchy enough but not special enough, sorry
The Secret Handshake
Summer Of '98 new single 9 Jun
Hmmm this is a real grower, there's something different in the assembly of the track an unusual understated backing track with clever lines, electro flava ... a maybe
Inner Party System
Don't Stop new single 26 May
Pennsylvania outfit InnerPartySystem have a strong sound, kind of spooky electro with a chunky rock backbeat thrown in - strong distant vocals and a great production "this is entertainment begging me for more..." 'pregnant with dark and anxious hope' - it's a maybe
The Sea
Don't You Want Me
new single 7 July
A powerful slap of gritty rock which immediately stands out from the pack with it's vocal chant of an intro. With support slots for Juliette & The Licks, Rumblestrips & New Young Pony Club The Sea should already have a substantial following. 'Don't You Want Me' could easily be Top 40 this Summer
Slaves To Gravity
Scatter The Crow new album 31 March
Heaven Is A Lie, Doll Size, Gutterfly, Rosa & The Ocean Blue ... titles to be found on London band Slaves To Gravity's debut album Scatter The Crow. Slaves have great stomping capacity, mixing powerful rock riffing with strong vocals which have one eye on the commerciality. That may be a good or bad thing, purists will probably be reserving of their judgement while Slaves sound may win over non believers. Either way 'Heaven Is A Lie' is a strong opener, followed by the off beat almost funky 'She Says' - this band rock. Quality - we reckon this band will be big!
