Xfm South Wales news
GCap will launch it's 56th and latest analogue station when Xfm South Wales goes live on November 29 (with digital included over 150 stations). The South Wales station, which will be overseen by programme controller Mike Newman and music scheduler Emma Newman - both hired from Emap's Kerrang! - is the latest addition to the Xfm stable, which already broadcasts on FM in London, Manchester and Scotland. GCap, which is also home to Capital and Classic FM, said it would spend around £1 million on the new launch of the station, which will broadcast between 106.8 and 107.3 FM. "Now we have the launch date in place we are working full steam behind the scenes to give the listeners of South Wales a fantastic launch," said the Xfm managing director, Nick Davidson. "This will be followed up within days by one of the biggest music events the area has ever seen - Winter Wonderland. Announcements on our exciting DJ lineup that will get our listeners raring to tune in are just around the corner." The indie rock station will broadcast from the same site as its GCap sister station, Red Dragon, in Cardiff.
The next DJ announcement is due on the 7th Nov, this is what we know so far, they're still keeping secret the name of their Breakfast guy or gal ... so the schedule looks maybe like this

Here's this week's harvest ...
Ian Brown
Sister rose
new single 3 December
'Illegal Attacks' is my record of the year, the awesome Mr Brown is making his best records now. Sister Rose dance grooved song which should attract the airplay Attacks was denied and therefore should see Ian agin in the Top twenty. Brilliant
Delays
Love Made Visible
new 5 track EP 12 November
Delays just played Cardiff Barfly last week, and this is an excellent new record. The Delays are another band who do their own thing, they're independent minded and also kind of aimed at power pop/electro dance, 'Valentine' was superb and unlucky not to have been a number one.
'Love Made Visible' picks up where 'Valentine' left off, perhaps it's a little more subtle. I've warmed to 'Panic Attacks' too - another great title.
Bonde Do Role
Marina Gasolina
new single 26 November
These crazy Brazilians are following CSS into our mainstream, mad as f**k and groovy too. See them at Bristol Thekla next Tuesday 20 November.
The Sugars
Way To My Heart
new single 19 November
It's a shame the nearest The Sugars get to Cardiff on their short tour is Woilverhampton because this is a fine edgy debut. Both tracks bode well for future, and visually an interesting line-up with two gals and a guy - a dream come true! Good stuff
Rumble Strips
Time
new single 19 November
Rumble Strips are right on the verge of massive success and 'Time' maybe the single to take them Top Twenty maybe even Top 10. there's a certain uniqueness to their 60s r & b / 00's sound, a raw enthusiasm and joy - uplifting and deserving bigger things
Kula Shaker
Songs Of Love / Narayana (Hands In the Air Remix)
new single 29 October
I love Kula Shaker, there's a fine bassline every time ... Hush still works a treat, Hey Dude too. I loved Crispian's 'Once Upon A Time In America' release with The Jeevers. Still, it's good to have Kula back and I hope they hit us with more groovy tunes like this.
Angels & Airwaves
I-Epire
new album 5 november
Everythings Magic, an extraordinary single which sets Angels & Airwaves apart from the crowd. An excellent album, production's superb, the artwork very spacey. By this time next year Angels & Airwaves will be ... Angels of the Airwaves
Foo Fighters
Long Road To Ruin
new single 3 December
Another 147bpm stormer from The Foos, Top Ten
Justice
D-A-N-C-E
re-released single with new mixes by Les Rhythmes Digitales aka Jaques Le Cont aka Stuart Price
Already a floorfiller for sure, the kids singing is a masterstroke - it's genius!
Johnny Flynn
The Box
new single 12 November
This is a fine new curio, a 111/222 bpm accoustic jaunt into 'The Box' - worthy of airplay on any radio station and that is a bit of an achievement in itself. Johnny's on tour at Cardiff's Point on 1 November.
