30 years ago Gary Numan scored his first hit as Tubeway Army with 'Are Friends Electric' replacing Anita Ward's disco anthem 'Ring My Bell' at number one. The Police were confirmed as Friday headliners at Reading Rock 79, petrol stations were closed at the weekend because of the oil crisis, Israel won the Eurovision Song Contest for the second year in a row. Wigan finished their first season in the league 6th in Division 4 two places above Newport County. Swansea were promoted from Division 3 while Cardiff finished 9th in Division 2 just behind Newcastle.

Asher Roth
Be By Myself
new album 20 July
Featuring Gnarls Barkley's Cee-Lo here's Asher Roth's merry little jaunt into introversion. 'Be By Myself' begins with some accoustic guitar and a teasing laugh and then the trademark hip hop begins. 'I Love College' is much requested and this following as it does from the 'Asleep In The Bread Aisle' album could well step into the top forty also.

Depeche Mode
Peace - The Club Remixes
new single 15 June
One of the biggest British bands ever - no doubt about it, their international appeal and longevity keeps them right up there. It seems though they may have a point about Mute being sidelined by the Brits and indeed other mainstream media players, surely if they were on Sony there'd be far more coverage for this band and that must be wrong. they should be top on merit. 'Peace' is another fine single from the band and this is a useful set of remixes from Herve, Sander van Doorn, Justus Kohncke ... top notch!

Gossip
Heavy Cross - Fred Falke Remix
new single 15 June
Heavy Cross is a great song, I really hope it's a top five hit. The Fred Falke remix adds an exciting feel for the dancefloor and is well worthy in it's own right.

Green Day
21 Guns
new single 20 July
Perhaps not for the dancefloor ... well definately not ... however there are moments when songs like '21 Guns' can work, end of night etc. '21st Century
Breakdown' is one of the best selling albums of the year already, maybe with 'Know Your Enemy' struggling to make 21 on the singles chart 'Guns' may struggle also. However there is no doubt this will pick up airplay and lead to increased sales of the album. Brilliant

Herve & Marina Gasolina
Baseball Bat
new single 29 june
Ex Bonde Do Role lass Marina Gasolina lets rip on this stomping mosh pit made tune, there's a top dubstep mix from High Rankin for variety in a curiosity shop
sense and with a little luck this time Marina could be on the ball, with the bat that is! Top 40 possibility.

Kid British
Our House Is Dadless
new single 15 June
The awesome Bimbo Jones team work their magic with Kid Brit's latest tune which features a superb sampling of Suggs and the Nutty Boys 'Our House' ... more useful mixes from Sneak Thieves and Dieter & Gadabout. Catchy and clever, the Dadless bit seems more and more topical while very neat production utilising Madness classic tune makes this an interesting
soundscape in the production sense also. I would hazard a guess at Top 40 success.

Metro Station
Seventeen Forever Remixes
new single 13 July
A superb song, a great single 'Shake It' much requested and winning fans for Matro Station, 'Seventeen Forever' a great track from their album should win many more. Big hit!

Mr Hudson
Supernova - Calvin Harris Remix
new single 20 July
Calvin Harris turns 'Supernova' into a thumping 126bpm elctro dancefloor gem and with this remix you're struck by just how good a song it is. You might think the stoccato single version of 'Supernova' would be an uneasy project for Calvin's style but no, it sounds great. Hope it's big hit for him / them.

September
Until I Die
new single 20 July
Another superb thumping Euro dance floor filler with a neat song and vocal. Surely after 'Cry For You' Top Tenned for September last year 'Until I Die' must be a
top ten contender also. Fine tune

Skint & Demoralised
Red Lipstick
new single 13 July
Red Lipstick is the second single from Skint 7 demoralised, a catchy affair with a subtle hint of female vocal to tantalise..
"she likes red lipstick, fish and chips, orange juice and trips to the seaside"..... yeah this is a good short sharp indie tune and should pick up plenty of airplay.

3OH!3
Don't Trust Me - Remixes
new single
This is a superb track, top ten US single with five great remixes here. I like the Fckin meatless one ... Sweet

'Straight No Chaser'

An enthralling Friday live experience with a sell-out show from Mr Hudson at Cardiff Barfly (his set-list photo below). Hudson's having a busy old time, Ben as he's known to his Ma has been working on his new album 'Straight No Chaser' with Kanye West in the Producer role.

Kanye became a fan of Hudsons' first album and invited him to contribute to four songs on the '808s & Heartbreaks' album. Now the role's are reversed and you can hear the results later this month with Mr Hudson's new single 'Supernova' and the album 'Straight No Chaser' following a week later.

New Order

Britain changed today.

Labour faces the prospect of becoming a minority party for the first time since it overtook the Liberals near 100 years ago. In the South East Region Labour came fifth behind the Greens. In Wales Labour was beaten into second place for the first time since 1918. The Tories won in Wales for the first time in 150 years, yep for the first time since 1859! (That was a time when women and most men were not franchised to vote, in fact only 565,000 voted in the whole of the UK which then included the whole of Ireland, it was the first time the name The Liberal Party appeared).

There's a word of warning before too many toff champagne's are sunk. The Conservatives had the support of only one in five of those who voted - this translates into one in fifteen in all. Because with a 34% turn out 24 million of the 40 million electorate didn't vote.

What does it mean? Trouble possibly? Big instability certainly, check the political carnage of the 1920's and 1930's. Room for opportunist chaos. The demise of consensus while Gordon's new global order and it's UK like is being shaped.

In Cardiff it means a Council administration choosing to release contentious, heartbreaking proposals to continue with their plans for school demolition's at close of play on a Friday when all eyes are on the Brown 'Bean' scenario.

In Cardiff it means Race For Life participants attempting to raise money for Cancer Research last week, were being mugged £5 for parking while they took part.

This time it's the Liberal / Plaid Cymru rulers of Cardiff, another 'gang' of tunnel visioned who are not listening to the majority of their constituents.

With their uncompromising vandalising of Cardiff's roads and schools some fear they will cause far more havoc than they can begin to imagine.
