this week's post ...

The Animal Collective
Summertime Clothes
new single
Another strange track from Animal Collective, more upbeat and mainstream appeal than their previous offering 'Summertime Clothes' should pick up rather more airplay and with a little luck, as unusual as this track sounds it may make some inroads.

Bat For Lashes
Pearl's Dream
new single 22 June
'Daniel' crashed the top forty a couple of months back and the new Natasha Khan aka Bat For Lashes single should improve on that success. The 132bpm 'Pearl's Dream' is another excellent track from her latest album.

Don Diablo & Example
Hooligans
new single 29 June
Grimey, grungey, electro .... "we came we saw we killed the crowd ..." and then there were none .. nothing ... and no-one. London singer / rapper / musician / producer Example's rather striking take on a tune called 'Hooligans' maybe not to much airplay for dis.

Filthy Dukes
Messages
new single 13 july
Tommy Sparks sings on this potential massive summer anthem from The Filthy Dukes. Sounding like a cross between Yazoo and Gary Numan these guys know how to make an electro floor filler. Featured here in five mixes - the Kill Em All Remix, Burns Terradome, the strange piano led We Have Band and the Singleton & Stopmakingme Remix .... 'Messages' is their strongest pop tune yet could easily win major airplay and become a top ten hit. Fine tune

Frankmusik
Confusion Girl
new single 12 July
A set of remixes included, from the forthcoming album 'Complete Me' due 13 July, 'Confusion Girl' features Holly Valence in it's video and should again make the top forty for young Vincent.

Hollywood Undead
Young
new single 13 July
Another metal indictment of the present ... "We are strong, we are Barack born in this world as it all falls apart .... " sung by a kids chorale "the angels sing our song .. ", hmmm. Produced by Danny Lohner of Nine Inch Nails, it's a catchy tune, kinda sits pretty alongside Linkin Park, challenging lyric, a hit maybe.

ffYars
Dark Young Hearts
album sampler
Pleasant enough, but maybe not strong enough to break through, a strong voice but maybe the lead song is a little weak.

Just Jack
Doctor Doctor
new single 11 July
Just Jack's heading to Glastonbury, Rock Ness and Pritchattsbury and he'll be supporting Lily Allen (not literally, well maybe) at Somerset House. Jack's new album 'All Night Holiday' is due 29 June and here comes a more commercial sounding single 'Doctor Doctor' to hopefully improve on the top twenty status of 'Ambers'. 'Doctor' is a more up-beat jaunty affair than 'Embers' more akin to Stars In their Eyes' and could with a bit of luck tap into the top ten.

Katy Perry
Waking Up In Vegas - Remixes
new single 8 June
Two weeks in the Top 40 already, an official single release this week should lift the tune into top twenty status, especially with the remixes available here. There's a rather nice 132bpm Calvin Harris remix among the pack, however many will already have it on Katy's 'One Of The Boys' album. And why hasn't she released the US single 'Ur So Gay' yet? Good question no?

Lady Gaga
Paparazzi
new single 6 July
Gaga's number one twice and maybe a third time. The more medium paced subtle, 'Paparazzi' in a fine remix package featuring Filthy Dukes, Stuart Price, Moto Blanco, Demo, Yuksek and James Camereta should crash the top ten with ease. A dark horse of a catchy song, the Lady is an outrageous new talent and she can do it live, play and sing that is!

Linkin Park
New Divide
new single 8 June
'Transformers : Revenge Of The Fallen' in true blockbuster form includes a storming new song from Linkin Park. Director & Executive Producer Michael Bay has enlisted the band to follow-up last year's 'Transformers' anthem 'What I've Done' with their new opus 'New Divide' which should again see top ten success with little difficulty.

Mando Diao
Mean Street EP
new EP
Superb short sharp shock from one of Swedish music's top exports. Mondo Daio big in Sweden Germany and Japan are hoping this track from their new album will break them in the UK - well as they are much requested already there is a big chance for them with this catchy new tune 'Mean Street'.

Maximo Park
Questing Not Coasting
new single
Maximo Park attempt to regain a chart initiative with a more medium paced 150bpm 'Questing Not Coasting'. It's a bit of a subtle cross on their trademark sound with a Dire Straits guitary feel, Hit maybe

Me My Head
Tumbling Down
new single
Me My Head persevere with another challenge for the chart, 'Tumbling Down' keeps up the pressure, short sharp indie and should pick up some appropriate airplay.

Metro Station
Seventeen Forever
new single 13 July
Metro Station follow-up their top ten smash 'Shake It' with another excellent single. The lead track to their debut album is even more poptastic and 'Seventeen Forever' should easily make the top five.

Mr Hudson & Kanye West
Supernova
new single 20 July
Hey Friday's gig was a sell-out, all tickets sold that is and with a crowd up for a good old sing-a-long. Mr Hudson fresh from Mr Bean (the movie) found a very important secret admirer for his debut album .. Kanye West. Mr West became quite a fan and asked to be involved in Mr ie Ben Hudson's new album with the result that Hudson contributed on four tracks on Kanye's '808's & Heartbreaks' album and Kanye has produced his second album due at the end of the month. Taster single 'Supernova' is a grower, a choppy affair and with Kanye's input who knows, maybe some Top 40 success at last.

Polarkreis 18
Allein Allein
new single 27 July
Number one in Germany, Polarkreis 18 are now re-releasing this superb 132bpm single here. "Allein Allein" (Alone Alone) is a superb slab of pop with a chorus sung in German, this may well be a surprise summertime smash in the UK.

Rise Against
Hero Of War
new single 8 June
'Hero Of War' is quite a song, an ambitious analysis of the life, trials and tribulations of a soldier. A bravely wriiten lyric, easy to condemn, but it's humane sympathies for those who've suffered are admirable. Quite a song indeed, deserving of success.

3OH!3
Don't Trust Me
new single 29 June
'Don't Trust Me' is a nasty tune, "tights" eh? You may have seen these guys support Katy Perry earlier this year and 'Don't Trust Me', the US top ten hit from 3OH!3 is a million seller Stateside and is heading for the top top here.

Team Waterpolo
Letting Go
new single
Another catchy, jolly, chirpy 132bpm electro / indie / pop tune from Team Waterpolo - I like this band, with airplay I reckon they've got a chart chance with the 3 minute 'Letting Go'. Nice.

Your country needs you

Doomed I tell you.. your country needs you or soon there may be no country at all, just a number of regions in a European superstate.

Our country has given us everything we are, obviously.

Step back and take an objective look at all you see and hear.

Do you feel deceived?

Wherever you care to look it seems as if our dear old United Kingdom is disintegrating.

The effects of UK bankruptcy and international humiliation have yet to be fully felt, perhaps the government hope there'll be enough of an upturn to enable them to cling on to the power they've so catastrophically demeaned. The purpose has become a mystery, perhaps it's power for powers sake.

Liberal MP Vince Cable years ago warned of the impending credit bubble/crunch disaster. The Australian government went some way to protect their citizens from the de-regulation that allowed grotesque bank confidence trickery, New Zealand Newydd also.

Why did they take action while Chancellor Brown and his Tory predecessors (who themselves de-regulated) allow the banking crisis to happen.

The results are plain for all to see.

As I walked past a usually full and rowdy city centre pub at 10pm on the Saturday before last my jaw dropped - I had to double take when I saw only six customers visible. For a year or more Cardiff's City centre Friday night trade seems effectively halved.

Oh and did you read we're all £4 a week better off than we were this time last year. Ugh???

Those responsible for peddling such fairytales maybe in danger of deluding themselves that there is some sort of recovery beginning.

It's a bitter pill to realise many of our law makers have been revealed as scummy, greedy power mads.

They didn't break the rules. No, they made the rules they didn't break.

How shallow. What would this bunch have done in Nazi Germany?

The question though is of intent - the intent to claim or not to claim to the hilt whether justified under "wholly necessary to fulfill the duties of MP".

It seems far to many of our MP's did just that.

Right now The Daily Telegraph must be planning a follow-up series on local and regional government, City Hall's and Assemblies.

Today Gordon Brown tried to parry the outrage by suggesting the BBC and in fact the entire civil service should in future make public their accounts.

As if the man hasn't had twelve years to enact such a policy.

In fact we've had so many 'lectures' on how we've got to change our ways, change our lifestyles you'd be forgiven for thinking our rulers don't like us very much.

The deceitful soliciting of votes on the promise of a referendum on Europe / The Lisbon Treaty some believe to be treason.

Wherever you may care to look things are happening that don't make any sense at all, whether it be MP's expenses, bank robber bank bosses, a ruthless pruning of the police force while our armed forces are stretched abroad.

Whether it be the number of businesses filing for bankruptcy, the foreign ownership of once great national institutions.

Whether it be the double charging for rubbish collection and fining for lax bin control.

Whether it be road useage - the creation of traffic jams and then fining for motorists consequently stuck in them.

The fixed penalties for this, that and no doubt soon the other.

Whether it be a justice system increasingly at odds with the word justice.

There will be a range of options for voters on Thursday, to waste the opportunity to use the vote that was so grudgingly given to us as a result of the suffering of previous generations would be a tragedy.

If according to some polls Labour is facing a vote of around 17%, ... yes 17% (shakes head) Brown and his clones will become a laughing stock, more of a laughing stock.

A dangerous laughing stock determined to enact laws the majority of the public would vote against.

There is the prospect of David Cameron's Conservatives soon having a landslide general election victory with a majority of over 100 with only 30% support.

It can get worse. This could be Chris Rea's 'Road To Hell'.

There is a party for every political view, check the policies of each party / candidate and vote.

Your candidate may or may not be elected, there may be little justice but at least you'll have played a part in trying to avert further disaster.
