this week's post ...
Guillemots
Get Over It new single 17 March
At 136bpm and with a much more attacking production this is a biting side you may not have heard from the Guillemots before, and it's a big grower.
The eleven song new album Red is much anticipated here and more chart success and sales are on the horizon
B52's
Funplex new single 24 March
B-52's are frequently requested most recently an upsurge in support for Rock Lobster has been divined ... this makes for good timing for Funplex which is a classic single at around 3mins - it's like they've never been away!
Boys Like Girls
The Great Escape new single 10 April
The Great Escape has an awesome attention grabbing intro and improves from there ...
This could well be a radio friendly hit or is it that American bandsmiths seem to have a knack of reeling off high quality alternative pop songs. i really like this but I do like pop, some of it does go over people's heads maybe these guys will be lucky.
Ida Maria
Stella new single 10 March
Yep this is another great single, an impressively different vocal performance reminiscent of The Noisettes whom I also adore. Hit potential
The Filthy Dukes
This Rhythm new single 18 February
The Filthy Dukes have created something a little different here and judging by this would be good on a bill with The Anomalies. This Rhythm could just be different enough to pick up radio play and crack the chart but it will be difficult
Robots In Disguise
We're In The Music Biz new single 18 February
A hit hopefully. Thanks to Mighty Bush, Robots In Disguise have been given a step up the ladder and are creating a niche audience of their own. We're In The Music Biz is a humourous worthy follow-up to the equally amusing Sex Has Made Me Stupid and accompanying video and is furthered here by Sue Denim and Dee Plume's shirts that never are or will be! Rivers Cuomo
Alone - The Home Recordings new album 4 February
I really like this ... in particular 'Lover In The Snow' (which I heard again in HMCV Cardiff today) what a cool idea, home demos. It's a lovely package too and there are plenty who love Weezer so it should do well
The Metros
Education Pt 2 new single 17 March
Another refreshingly amusing listen, The Metros have a Monks 'Nice Legs Shame About The Face' chance of breaking through here and The Monks made the Top Twenty, so maybe
The Cardigans
Best Of new album 3 March
Lucky James Dean Bradfield ... not content with hi-jacking my Traci Lords then he hood winked my Nina. Anyway The Cardigans are great, some brilliant trax here and the remixed Erase/Rewind is awesome!
Robyn
Who's
That Girl new single 7 April
