Happy New Year |
Now that Fearn and Reggie have removed the 'r' from Radio One's Chart Show, we can also ponder how it can be that hundreds of thousands of tone deaf have spent money on X-Factor Leon's No.1 hit 'When You Believe'. If you compare his recording with the original it easy to hear how the poor lad must have been under some considerable pressure to come up with the goods and quickly. Leon's is probably the most flat vocal performance on a number one hit since Eastender Nick 'Wicksy' Berry's 'Every Loser Wins' in 1986. Right now while new show Cowell Counts His Cash is being dreamed up, Leon will be seeking advice from Michelle McManus. My personal single of the year has to be Ian Brown's 'Illegal Attacks', with Ian's incisive analysis of our Middle East disaster complimented in the most devastating fashion by Sinead O'Connor's haunting vocal "in the faces of the poor" - a masterpiece of stark artistic bravery and brilliance. For album of the year... difficult, but many twilight hours have been spent here working on a variety of supremely testing projects, like where to put this full stop and that comma. During these most difficult of times it has been found great comfort can be found with Kate Walsh's 'Tim's House'. Kate's accoustic mumblings on the singles 'Tonight' and 'Your Song' are lifted from the album 'Tim's House' which was on sale from Asda's chart at the ripe price of £7.99, all that comfort at a snip, thank you Asda! We'd like to thank all who've come to gigs, sent records, made requests, danced and had fun and wish you a very happy Christmas. Based on our weekly chart, here's our trax of the year 1.
