The Barbarellas
Body Rock new single 31 January 2011
Remember B*Witched.... 'Blame It On The Weatherman', 'Rollercoaster'... well they're back... this time as The Barabarellas...(it's kinda B*witched 2).
Here's the PR... Edele and Keavy Lynch unveil their sexy-new band
Bold, charismatic and super sexy - Edele and Keavy Lynch have come of age and leave their former B*witched image in the shade as they shimmer into the limelight as the newly created Barbarellas. Barbarellas’ debut single, ‘Body Rock’, hits the streets on 31 January 2011, with a second single, ‘Night Mode’ released on 11 April and the band’s debut album, ‘Night Mode’ hot on its heels on 25 April.
‘Body Rock’ is the absolute epitome of pop. When its stunning instrumental fusion is intertwined with the distinctive Barbarellas vocals, self-penned lyrics and a jaw-dropping video, it makes the musical future of 2011 very exciting. The video is nothing short of mind blowing. Produced by John Bland, the viewer is transported into an imaginary Barbarellas fantasy world, portraying the Lynch twins as twisted pierrot dolls, mesmerising your gaze from the first frame. Plus, with stonking remixes by Manhattan Clique and Riffs & Rays, ‘Body Rock’, is set to cross-over from club to radio, and positions the track as a red-hot launch pad for the Barbarellas’ debut album, ‘Night Mode’.
Bursting with all the essential ingredients of a classic album, ‘Night Mode’, is an outstanding demonstration of the Lynch sisters’ maturity, produced by Yoad Nevo (Sugababes, Pet Shop Boys, Sophie Ellis Bextor), the album is a bold ‘coming-of-age’ statement from the teenage pop-stars who smashed into the charts over 13 years ago. As Edele and Keavy inject wisdom and experience into their lyrical genius, the album presents 13 original tracks, which traverse a spectrum of issues and musical sounds. From the sassy and dominating, ‘Turn Me On’ and the expression of confidence that comes as night falls in ‘Night Mode’, right through to the serene sensitivity of the delicate ‘Halo’, and the heartbreaking questioning of life in ‘Smokin’ – ‘Night Mode’ is an exhilarating journey of diversity and passion.
Chase & Status with Tempa T
Hypest Hype
new single 8 November 2010
Chase are of Status right on the edge with Temp T hammering out a thudding performance... not exactly sure what he's on about but I wouldn't argue with him... I think C&S are on the top their game right now but if I were to be profound I'd have to file this under dispensible... hard to imagine it being played in six months time never mind six years. Why? 'Felt so God damn low'. Having said that I like the use of the guitar... take that JLS!!!
PR.... For the past few months Chase & Status have been meticulously balancing their time between DJ sets, festival shows, and extensive studio sessions whilst working on the much anticipated follow up to their genre bending debut, More Than A Lot. Along with Hypest Hype, the highly anticipated album will feature their street single 'Heavy', the critically acclaimed collaboration where Chase & Status fused Dubstep, Grime, and Dizzee Rascal's classic 'Boy In Da Corner' flow to create the biggest brutal, un-compromising, but highly revered club banger of the year. The album, due for release in January, also features 'End Credits', their top 10 smash with Plan B, and their latest hit single 'Let You' Go ft Mali.
Off the back of a massive festival run this summer (Glastonbury, Wireless, V Festival and Bestival to name just a few), Chase & Status have just announced a number of shows this Autumn. Featuring MC Rage and Andy Gangadeen (Massive Attack, Faithless) on drums, Chase & Status Live, described by Mixmag as rocking the living crap out of dance floors across the globe, is one show not to be missed. The band will be playing Radio 1's Student Tour @ Oxford Academy on 20th October, followed by headlining the Q Awards show @ London Forum on 21st October. The Drums
Me & The Moon new single 13 December 2010
KISS... Keep it simple stupid... in comes a trad big drum beat intro, and a trad neuvo indie pop tunette, the best yet from The Drums. As I sit ponderingover why many of these records fall before Top 40 success.. it strikes me me the scene is kinda simiar to early to mid 80s pre-Smiths when many superb records again found Top 40 illusive... it all changed with the massive success of Brit Pop in the 90s so maybe we're not far away from an upturn for that indie guitar sound. I hope so, all these MOBO records are smothering everything. Good tune.
Here's the PR... As The Drums begin their inaugural tour of their homeland in September, they’re delighted to announce they will return to the UK this winter with a headline tour, and release double A-sided single featuring live favourite, ‘Me and the Moon’ and ‘Down By The Water’ on November 7th. The single and nearly sold out UK tour, look set to cap a remarkable 12 months for The Drums. Last week the band was nominated for “Best New Act” at the Q Awards 2010, which followed the news the band were voted NME’s “Best New Festival Band” (polling 25% of their readers’ votes) – the latter coming after a succession of thrilling UK festival shows including Glastonbury, Reading/Leeds, T in the Park, Oxegen and their support slot with Kings of Leon at Hyde Park, London[M1] . After selling out their first London Forum show almost immediately, a second show has been announced on Wednesday 24th November.

Grinderman
Worm Tamer new single 22 November 2010
“My baby calls me the Loch Ness Monster: two great big humps and then I’m gone…”
Worm Tamer, the new single from Grinderman, will be released on 22 November. The second single from their critically acclaimed new studio album Grinderman 2, Worm Tamer will be available as a download and 12’’. Along with the album version of Worm Tamer, the 12” format will include remixes from UNKLE and A Place To Bury Strangers. Nick Cave: “Worm Tamer, for me, is one of the most extraordinary songs I’ve ever been involved in, in all the years of making music. I’ve never heard anything like it in my life. It’s got a wry kind of lyric to it, but sonically it’s really extraordinary and I can’t really describe it, you just have to kind of hear it.” Jim Sclavunos: “Worm Tamer is a decidedly freakish number: a catchy paean to the female Other who grows more formidable from verse to verse, set against a whirlwind barrage of outlandish noises, crazed drumming and urgent throbbing bass.”
Warren Ellis: “Worm Tamer is very dense. It’s one that’s going to be interesting to play live.”
Grinderman are Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos.
UK TOUR DATES
29th September Manchester Academy
1st October London Hammersmith Apollo
2nd October London Coronet

Katy Perry
Firework new single
So annoying Katy's hooked up with love muscle Russel but what the heck... I just picked up the 2005 'Sisterhood Of Travelling Pants' Soundtrack album for 50p in a Cancer Research Shop and our Katy has a track called 'Simple' featured... a quite clear taste of what has followed from the then lowly billed Ms.Perry... five years on and 'Firework' is another top five song!!! Good tune too

The battle of The 'Babes' sees Cheryl Cole tuff out the Rihanna challenge with 'Promise This' beating 'Only Girl In The World' to top spot... another Girl Aloud waiting in the wings Nadine Coyle should go top ten next week with her debut solo tune 'Insatiable'.
Kings Of Leon stay top of the UK Albums for a second week while Far East Movement's 'Like A G6' stays at Number One on America's Billboard Hot 100.

Revoker get signed
Posted Wednesday 3rd November 2010 - Source BBC.co.uk
The Welsh metal scene has had another boost this week with the announcement of the Roadrunner label's signing of Rhymney valley's Revoker.
The fourpiece formed in 2006 and have now been picked up by the label, home of bands like Kiss, Slipknot, Nickelback, Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Airbourne, Dragonforce and Korn.
Monte Conner, Roadrunner's senior vice president, A&R said, "Revoker are one of the most ass-kicking unsigned bands I have heard in a long time and I am beyond proud to welcome them to the Roadrunner family. Believe it or not, in my entire career at Roadrunner, they are the first UK band I have signed."
The band is made up of Jamie Mathias, Chris Green, Shane Phillips and Jack Pritchard. Their music is pitched somewhere between the all-out modern metal of Bullet For My Valentine's debut album and the classic metal of 1990s Metallica, with lots of growling vocals, pounding drums and big riffs.
Mathias said, "Getting signed to Roadrunner is amazing and almost surreal. I've grown up listening to bands like Megadeth, Slipknot, Machine Head, and Slash. So to be a part of the same label as them is nuts!"
Green said, "It's mindblowing! If I could have picked any label then this would be it. I think this is the perfect label for us to be joining with. It's amazing to be part of such a mammoth roster with bands we've looked up to for years ourselves."
Revoker are beginning work on their debut album this year with Dub War / Skindred's Benji Webbe.
