Innercity Pirates
Seen It All Before
new single 4 October 2010
Great to have Russ and Co. back with a pounding uplifting raucous affair. 'Cockney Sparra' should have hit a couple of years back and I hope they'll build on t
he
inroads that track made with this track which perhaps sounds more like Russ's original My Red Cell incarnation. English speaking Welsh from Barry occurring, well worthy!

Ting Tings
Hands
new single 10 October 2010
'That's Not My Name' number one two years back.. times flying again... I like 'Hands' it's a catchy idea, some may think a little cheesy..."Clap your hands if you're working too hard..." but I'm sure there'll be plenty of takers... and the rock/r&b balance needs reverting... Number One again I hope!

Pure Reason Revolution
Fight Fire
new single 11 October 2010
"... people getting angry" as The Specials said in 1981.... "Fight Fire with Fire....." say an angry Pure Reason revolution in 2010... Pure Reason Revolution have released some quite brilliant musical creations, well crafted beautifully put together with minimal success... these past four years they must have been scratching their heads wondering what they have to do.... and here it is.... anger. This is stadium rock and has capacity for a brilliant stage show, I like this band they deserve big success, I hope they get it this time round.
Here's the PR...
Pure Reason Revolution are proof a band can be influenced by ELO, Smashing Pumpkins, Soulwax, Depeche Mode and The Beach Boys all at once, yet make sense of a vision that brings those disparate voices together into a sound that combines electronic dance rhythms, pop hooks and sublime vocal harmonies with huge rock riffs. Alan McGee released their first single on Poptones, Sony BMG released a mini album and debut album. In March 2009 they released their second longplayer ‘Amor Vincit Omnia’ on Superball Music, a rockier and more electronic proposition than its predecessor, it was typical of their ability to fuse seemingly paradoxical ambitions and tastes. Over the years PRR have ‘stuck to their guns’ and built a formidable live reputation sharing stages alongside the likes of Mew, Porcupine Tree, Secret Machines and Editors. Since November 2006 the band line-up has remained unchanged. In March-April 2009 their 30 date headline tour covered 12 European countries and during the second half of 2009 they appeared at European festivals alongside The Prodigy and Placebo before starting to record again. Now their third album “Hammer and Anvil” is released on Oct 18th 2010 in Europe and Chloë says: “When we started we were unaware of what we could achieve as individuals, now we’ve all learned what our strengths and weaknesses are and how to use them.” A full UK/European tour from mid Nov will soon be announced and live shows begin at Club NME, Koko on Sept 17th and Portsmouth, Wedgewood Rooms Sept 18th with dates in Germany, France and The Netherlands later in the month. If Friedrich Nietzsche had a point when he said “That which does not kill us makes us stronger” PRR are proof of that with their third album.

Robbie & Gary
Shame
new single 4 October 2010
Two words... Number One.
Some more words... Barlow is a song-writing genius and this little play between brothers Rob and Gaz is the kind of tune McCartney would have come up with... Robbie & Gary demonstrate the world of difference between Take That and every other so called boy band since... they are in a league of their own... they write great pop songs and are shining showmen. (Don't tell anyone I said that).

This week's Goss ...

UK Top40 Sun 26 Sep 10
Congrats to Bruno Mars who's supurb new single 'Just The Way You Are' shoots straight to the top of the UK and US singles charts... a Trans-Atlantic Number One.

Congrats and commisserations to the Manics who while they hang on to a Top 40 place for a second week with 'It's Not War' pull up in third place on the Album Chart. Phil Collins has the UK's new number one album with his covers set 'Going Back' while The Script slip to No.2.

The BBC's Album Chart web-page has been updated to include blogs, news and bigraphies for each entry - it runs to twenty four pages... a cool source of instant info... surf onto it here... I think a one page chart summary at the top would be good.

BlairLaneScrapped
Posted Fri 1st Oct 2010 - Source - BBC.co.uk

The Blair Lane err M4 Bus Lane into London is to be scrapped... BRILLIANT... I used to get stuck in it every Sunday night when there was far less traffic than warranted a queue. If liberation from the EU comes this is a taste of what it will feel like.

Ed Use Somebody
Posted Wed 29th Sep 2010 - Source - BBC.co.uk

Have you noticed how everything seems to need a pop song to identify itself, like a 'sexy' kind of mission statement... from car commercials to politicians image making... did you notice as Ed Milliband left the stage following his maiden speech as Labour Leader up chimed Kings Of Leon's 'Use Somebody'... A strange choice but as Tony Blair famously selected D-Ream's 'Things Can Only Get Better', Ed's choice can only be more accurate.

Tax the Council
Posted Wed 29th Sep 2010 - Source - BBC.co.uk

Cardiff's Lib Dem / Plaid Cymru Council... in the dictionary under pathetic have surprised us all again this week. Despite insisting the unnecessary road works at Cardiff Castle would go ahead without interruption.... as Tuesdays South Wales Echo shows they have near disappeared completely. The Labour / Green policy of narrowing roads as part of a general war on car drivers enacted here by a dysfunctional coalition of Plaid Cymru / Lib Dems was shamed into removing them - perhaps at the realisation that the world's impression of Cardiff during the Ryder Cup would be less than favourable... in fact if you were stuck in last weeks traffic you'd have been wise to have taken a packed lunch. We've got another two years of this devolved vandalism... then as Thatcher did to Liverpool council in the 80s the funds of the councillors responsible for this disaster should be sequestrated. The individuals who have arrogantly and consistently ignored public opinion in Cardiff should be made to pay from their own pockets for the outrage they're inflicting on us. They claim to be tackling congestion by reducing four lanes to two... an outright lie... no doubt, in lieu of arguing for a congestion charge... let's not get on to the destruction of heritage schools.

MoylesBreakdown
Updated 26th Sep 2010 - Source - BBC.co.uk

We speculated on a breakdown and now it's been revealed that Chris Moyle's has split from his girlfriend of eight years over his decision to remain single and not start a family... affairs of the heart eh???
Chris needs to bond again with an audience most of whom will be paid the minimum wage of around £5 an hour while he's earning £600 an hour... though you'd never have guessed it if you quality assessed his content... Perhaps this explains his mistaken on-air rant about his good fortune last week...

New Ed?
Posted Sun 26th Sep 2010

Still waiting for an explanation of how Labour sees 66 year old grannies who sell goldfish to 14 year old boys as a social evil - so evil they're worthy of a thousand pound fine and a two month curfew with an electronic tag.... while capital punishment has been downgraded to open prison status???
Don't hold your breath.
So called intellectuals may regard that as social justice??????
New Labour leader Ed Milliband must be quaking in his boots... praying Gordon the Great doesn't support him like he did Tony Blair in his third term as the elected Prime Minister of The United Kingdom of Great Britain.
Another strange quality to the 'new' Labour line is the attempt to distance themselves from their bigotted and disasterous thinking like the anti-granny policy above, as if Brothers Ed, Dave, Ed, Andy and Diane were nothing to do with it... at least we know when they're lying, each cleverly connived soundbite seems to betray a fork tongued deceipt... Is it possible to have social justice without justice... the justice system became a sick joke under Labour with their own Attorney General unable to abide by her own laws... Justice demanded she resign but she (and they) clung on to power in the same manner you'd expect a desperado to cling to booty.
The top legal job in the country - Attorney General... a ministerial office created in 1315 brought to a dismal non-functioning shame.
Not a word of apology.
There's little morality or guidance any such shamefuls can offer when tainted with such blinkered vision.
Labour seem to be banking on the exploding economic time-bombs they've deliberately left the Tories... if the Tories don't sort out Labour's deceitful governmental diarrhea - the strange union leadership to which Labour is betrothed will have achieved one of it's darker goals - a chaotic end to the capitalist system under which we currently live... it's hard to imagine the Tories will be alone in resisting such a calamity and for sure we ain't seen anything yet.
The Milibands - from wiki
Their father, Ralph, a Polish Jew who fled the Nazi invasion of Belgium in 1940, was one of the leading Marxist theorists of his generation - and a fierce critic of the Labour Party.
Their mother, Marion Kozak, is also a well-known figure on the British left.
Growing up, their Primrose Hill home played host to the leading intellectuals and Labour politicians of the age, with dinner guests including Ken Livingstone and Tariq Ali.
The family's basement dining room was the scene of high-minded and often heated debates between major figures on the Left.
The young Milibands were always encouraged to chip into the debate with their own opinions and, apparently, Tony Benn was even known to have given the brothers a few pointers with their homework.
"[They were] very, very fresh lively, intelligent… and I must admit Ed amazed me by being able to do the Rubik's Cube... in one minute 20 seconds and, as I recall, just with one hand too," remembers socialist academic Robin Blackburn, a close friend of Ralph's.
Ed studied at North London Comprehensive school, Oxford university and the Treasury.
Ed says he was not "cool" enough to hang out with ex Labour MP Oona King, who was in the year above him at school.
The more academically gifted of the two, Ed did better than David in his A-levels, following his brother to Corpus Christi College in Oxford, where he became involved in student activism.
After briefly working as a television journalist, Ed was taken on by current deputy Labour leader Harriet Harman, then a shadow minister, as a speech writer and researcher.
His number-crunching skills soon brought him to the attention of the then shadow chancellor... Gordon Brown "burgled him off Harriet", said Charlie Whelan, Brown's former spin doctor has said.
