Die Tonight Live Forever new single 22 September
"If We Die Tonight, We'll Live Forever.... " ? I wonder what websites these Pennysylvanians have been visiting. Anyways this is one tough act, and this is another brilliantly chunky piece of dark electro with big eye on pop sensibility, at 134bpm this should crack it for them
Johnny Foreigner
Salt N Pepa & Spinderella new single 8 September
Well R&B 80s and 90s spinsters (ha ha) are celebrated here on another wild Johnny foreigner outing, an electro rumble at 194 bpm sets the tone before the customary raucous JF vocals kick in. It's a hoot
Madonna
Give It To Me - Fedde Le Grand Remix
Another superb remix from the 'Put Your Hands Up for Detroit' chart-topper, who has also contributed greatly to Madonna's upcoming tour with his number one mixed into her number one 'Four minutes' (as heard on her Radio One Big weekend show) - another great sexy combination. PS Happy Birthday Madge, 50 on Aug 16
The Metros
Talk About It new single 8 September
Another spunky, semi punky 139bpm single from The Metros. Demonstrating a sizeable humour 'Talk About It' comes from their new debut album 'More Money Less Grief' due on 15 September. See them on tour throughout september.
Natty
July new single 21 July
Well that lovely Reggie Yates of Fearn Cotton's sidekick fame alerted us to this and you have to be brave to use the name Natty ... well it's justified, this is a brilliant easy skanking ode to yester Summer, "July, it was a beautiful year". Deserves Number One. Check the video here
Peter Raeburn
Celebrare new single 18 August
Very unusual, very strange 'Celbrare' pronounced 'Kel-eh-bra-ray' is a two minute opera piece, a mournfull combination of Scottish renaissance singers , a Bulgarian choir and a New York based gypsy-punk band. The Layo & Bushwacka remix is well worthy and right from way out there this could arrive big time
Platnum
Love Shy new single 15 September
140 bpm from Hard To Beat, perfect for sequeing with Basshunter and H Two O
Sam Beeton
No Definite Answer new album due 1 September
19 year old Sam's dad was in 70's punk band The Drains so this is quite a surprise. Pleasant accoustic based melodies and on 'What You Look For' an old Motown drum intro sample on a loop as punctuation. That one of five fine punchy tracks here, the others are the 139bpm 'Mocha mocha', the 147bpm 'Finally gone' and a couple of 220bpm trax 'Best friend' and 'Under the Fence'. All at a v. radio friendly 3'00".
Scars On Broadway
Scars On Broadway new album
Daron Malakian and John Dolmayan from System Of A Down have a new band and a debut album and have just announced a full UK tour. This is a natural successor to their earlier work and includes the live favourite 'They Say' and our early pick 'Insane'. Track 4 'Stoner Hate' must be one of only two songs ever to use the word 'Supercalifragilisticxpalidotious ... California's been invaded by... ' well you know! Brilliant
Sharam & Daniel Bedingfield
The One new single 25 August
Well Dan had the worst of luck with a hirrific car crash at the peak of his success and with Sharam's help 'The One' may see him finally turn the corner back to the big time. 'If You're Not the One' a slow sexy love song when it arrived in 03, is now a pulsing 129bpm Ibiza hit, which is where Dan heard Sharam's work on his track and initiated the collaboration for this single. A hit
Sonny J
Can't Stop Moving new single 8 september
Sonny J has made a great album 'Disastro' from which this masterpiece comes. At 104bpom and sampling a Jacksons like phrase with a superb cartoon vid to boot 'Can't Stop Moving' was very unlucky to miss out when first released in Summer 07. Now Mirwais provide a chunkier emphasis on the beat and this could kick in big time, already an irresistable floorfiller, a great pop record.
We Are Scientists
Impatience new single 8 September
Another excellent single from The Scientists, at 130bpm somewhat reminiscent of Doves 'Pounding'. Because of the way the charts are now compiled and the absence of physical CD singles as an entity, it's probably not going to fayre any better than their last single however this is the strongest of the three and deserves to be Top ten.
