Arcade Fire
City With No Children new single 14 March 2011
Arcade Fire's third album "The Suburbs" has been nominated for Grammy and Brit Awards and the band are due to play at both award ceremonies. Ahead of the Brits performance next week, radio stations in the UK have been serviced with new single “City With No Children”, which is released on 14th March.
Arcade Fire have also announced a massive summer show in London’s Hyde Park as well as gigs at Manchester MEN and Edinburgh Castle. Cat's Eyes
Broken Glass new EP 28 February 2011
Cat’s Eyes are a duo formed by Rachel Zeffira, a Canadian opera soprano and classical multi-instrumentalist based in London, and Faris Badwan, the singer from British psychedelic-rockers The Horrors. In the collision of their two very separate worlds, something magical has come into being. Cat’s Eyes eponymous debut album is a romantic pop masterpiece fit to dine at the same table as mid-’60s productions by Phil Spector, Joe Meek or Shadow Morton, but with a fiercely modern, experimental premise, which constantly leaves you wondering just what you’re listening to, and how on earth it was created.
Ahead of the album, the debut release from Cat’s Eyes is the ‘Broken Glass EP,’ available as 2 x 7 inch singles and as a download from 28th February. Both EP and album were recorded at RealWorld studios near Bath with producer Steve Osborne. All Cat’s Eyes artwork is designed and photographed by Chris Cunningham.
The Kills
Satellite new single 28 March 2011
I love The Kills, they played our Mad4it! night four or five years back and I was stage side... they've been perhaps unlucky to have not been more prominent since then but now they're releasing an interesting new sound... a kind of grungy reggae with a chanty end... Like it, Top 40 I hope
Here's the pr... The Kills - Jamie Hince and Alison Mosshart – release their new single Satellite on Monday the 28th of March 2011. Satellite is the perfect introduction to the band’s new studio album, Blood Pressures, the highly anticipated follow-up to their critically acclaimed third album, Midnight Boom. Blood Pressures will be released on Domino on April 4th 2011. 'Satellite' features Alison’s melancholy vocals enveloping a dub influenced guitar, building to a soaring, swelling chorus with additional vocals contributed by The REV Gospel Collective. The album Blood Pressures finds The Kills with their swagger and sass intact, but with a new thoughtfulness and depth - even a tinge of wistfulness and vulnerability - to their always compelling songwriting. As one of the most vital, striking bands recording today, The Kills' vividly unique "rock" is at once effortless, edgy and timeless.
You can pre-order Blood Pressures and listen to Satellite here: http://www.thekills.tv/
The Kills are playing a sold out show at London’s Heaven on Thursday the 31st of March.
'Satellite is' backed with a new recording ‘Raise Me’. The digital 1 track version of the single is available now, full single on the 28th of March. Formats to be announced soon.
The Sophie Muller directed road trip inspired video for Satellite will be launched in the very near future.

White Lies
Strangers new single 21 March 2011
White Lies have announced details of the release of a new single. Strangers will be released through Fiction Records on March 21st.
The single, available on 7”, CD and download and including a Holy Other remix of Strangers, is taken from their recent 2nd album Ritual, which came out in January reaching number 3 in the UK charts, selling more in its first week of release than their debut, To Lose My Life. Ritual was produced by Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails).
The Voluntary Butler Scheme
The Chevreul EP new EP 4 April 2011 on SPLIT RECORDS
Yes... this is a very odd tune indeed... some nice stereo effect to enhance the madness... not sure what Rob Voluntary is singing... "Dying, hey man dying..." is it? Anyways the video perhaps is inspired by Supergran's escapades a week or so back in which she single-handledly stopped a jewelry heist/robbery by chasing off a bunch of bike riding hoddie wearing thieves - it seems to feature an army of grannies, knitting and bearing their teeth at a certain former Flying Picket Brian Hibbert or is he one of the Grans too... yes very nuts! Have a look at the vid by clicking here or by pasting in this address into your browser http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OwwdgMNKvM Very alternative.. maybe some Xfm plays... and maybe BBC 6music.. and surely some Zane pick-up. Interesting.
Here's the Pr... “Many wonderful things have come out of the West Midlands – the balti, Steve Bull, the uniquely mangled vowel sounds of residents of Dudley – and to that list you can add Rob ‘The Voluntary Butler Scheme’ Jones.” GuardianGuide
Some people are just bursting with tunes. Just over a year after his debut album, The Voluntary Butler Scheme – aka Dudley-based bedroom pop architect Rob Jones – is back with a new sound and a new four-track EP comprising two vocal songs, two instrumentals and around about a million ideas.
Where the album, At Breakfast, Dinner, Tea had critics flinging comparisons to Motown, Brian Wilson and bubblegum pop around, The Chevreul EP is a more experimental proposition, ranging from the bonkers Japanese pop of Do The Hand Jive to the blessed-out, Mark Mothersbaugh-gone-chillwave electronica of DOPL, the laid back hip hop of Satisfactory Substitute and the utterly joyous To The Height Of A Frisbee, with its equally joyous lyrics: “Pretend the penny in your pocket is a skybound rocket you can ride on for the rest of your days”.
The brilliant melodies are still there, busting at the seams, but there’s an electronic, cut and paste aesthetic keeping things crispy-fresh. Jones constructed it on Ableton Live software, which opened up a world of splicing and dicing. Some of Rob’s oldest tracks were chopped up beyond recognition to make the new sounds on the EP.
“I've always made tunes like an electronic musician – with a computer and nerdy machines alone – but it never sounded like it,” says Rob. “My listening tastes change every couple of years and making this EP I was caught on a wave of loving all things cut, pasted and arranged, from instrumental hip hop to electronic stuff and some of the chillwave thing – but rarely flat out indie stuff.”
Anyone buying the 7” single will also have access to a digital remix EP featuring remixes of Hand Jive (The Go! Team), Frisbee (Dan Le Sac), DOPL (William Ryan Frith (Asthmatic Kitty), Satisfactory Substitute (PRDCTV).
Since making the first album, The Voluntary Butler Scheme have toured the UK with Adam Green and signed a US deal with influential indie Park The Van. Jones has seen his tracks pop up in such varied places as Grey's Anatomy, a Dell ad, Eastenders and, er, Countryfile. “Living in Dudley, you defo don't imagine your life will ever come in to contact with the telly,” says Jones. “In a small way it has, and I just find it hilarious.”
As well as being an in-demand remixer for Go! Team, Kid Carpet, Colourmusic and more, Jones is making his name as a producer for other artists, producing albums for ex-David Devant man Mr Solo and Welsh singer-songwriter Sweet Baboo, who appears blasting the saxophone on EP track To The Height Of A Frisbee. 2011 will also see Voluntary Butler Scheme hitting the road with a new live line-up, which will be touring extensively this year.
The EP is a taster of the next Voluntary Butler Scheme album, which will be a mix of instrumental and vocal tracks. For someone with such wildly far-ranging influences and outputs, Jones bravely says his aim for the album is “to blend all the different types of music I've been making together.”
“The album is going to be a bit more focused, I think,” says Rob, “But it’s fun to try this stuff out.” It’s great fun to listen to, too.

Unorthodox new single release date to be confirmed
A quite superb follow-up, people love the sex in it... top five... maybe a Tinie-a-like and the first of three number ones. Top-oh.
UK Top 40Sun 20 Feb 11
In America Lady GaGa's 'Born This Way' becomes The Hot 100's 1,000th Number One... a landmark song, and a landmark chart-topper... almost unthinkable that a song about deviants being normalised would ever be played when the Hot 100 began in 1958 never mind top the lot.
As the blurb on Billboard.com says.... "Billboard Charts are calculated using custom formulas collecting sales, streaming and radio play. The complete Hot 100 and Billboard 200 charts are available each week, as well as the top half of our current chart catalog and top 10 of historical charts. A subscription to Billboard.biz is required for full chart data..". America's first Hot 100 number one in 1958 when different charts were amalgamated was Country star Ricky Nelson with 'Poor Little Fool'. Congrats to West London Folk Scenesters Mumford & Sons who climb to the top of America's Album Chart with 'Sigh No More'.
Here in Blighty it's sales only that count and we're Adele crazy. 'Someone Like You' re-enters at the top while the former Brit school grad retains the Number One Abum title for a fourth week with '21'.
